You are definitely onto something, girl. Videos of both Richard Shindell and Carter & Grammer performances would indeed be a treat for their fans as well as those who are just getting to know the work of these talents. Many may not have had the chance to even see Dave & Tracy live. I have the John Gorka video and I love it; I watch it at least once a month and never tire of it. Ditto for the John Prine Live at Sessions at 54th Street. The Gorka video includes live performances in at least two venues, but it also has great footage of John talking about his career, the songwriting process and where he often gets his inspiration. I could just imagine how truly beautiful a similar video for Richard as well as Dave & Tracy would be, especially hearing them talk about their respective creative processes in their own voices. I'm wondering if Signature's Jimmy Olsen could be tapped to spearhead the development of these videos, albeit with Tracy's blessing and cooperation, of course. Perhaps if enough of us begin to clamor for this, it might fall upon the proper ears. I can't help but think there would be a groundswell in demand from the gitgo. Well, how 'bout it folks? Let's officially begin the campaign for a Shindell and Carter & Grammer video. Doesn't hurt to ask, or demonstrate an overwhelming interest. Besides, proceeds from these videos certainly would inflate the coffers of those who deserve it most--the artists. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my money or a better gift for those I am close to. Or, at least, "LASERS". :) - --Bart ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 05 Nov 2002 17:22:12 -0500 From: Norman Johnson Subject: [RS] and visions of videos danced in their heads With regards to the Richard video, I guess the only question is "Which song?" The Dave and Tracy video project is also a good idea. By the way, I saw on Dar-list that Darryl Purpose (and I hope that's how you spell his name) is covering the Dave and Tracy song "American Noel". ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 05 Nov 2002 20:51:54 -0500 (EST) From: VANESSA C WILLS Subject: Re: [RS] Video Visions On Tue, 5 Nov 2002 RockinRonD@aol.com wrote: > Amen, Vanessa, on the video proposition.. If there's enough footage out there for it, I think a D&T video would be positively lovely. > Let's officially begin the campaign for a Shindell > and Carter & Grammer video. OK, where do we start?
