Ah, if only it was Ringwood in the New *Forest* instead of New *Jersey*! :-( Dave. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jul 2002 10:11:18 EDT From: SHOE4347@aol.com Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V4 #195 In a message dated 7/6/2002 4:55:43 AM Eastern Daylight Time, owner-shindell-list-digest@smoe.org writes: > > > Ted Williams and Joe Dimagio are playing baseball with Babe Ruth and > Satchel Page even as we speak. > > See ya.... Bob Paterson I was in Times Square yesterday driving south and saw the MSNBC huge screen show clips of the above greats and never knew the significance until I put on the news later. Sort of reminded me if RS and Elvis and John Lennon and Roy Orbison could jam now. What a clip. Anyone going to New Bedford MA summerfest next weekend? I will be there in my vintage Newport Folk Fest T shirt. Look for me at the Lucy and Richard sets. I would call him more country-based folk than bluesy but he may have bluesy numbers too. I saw him at the Rhythms and Roots festival last year in Rhode Island. He has a very nicer sensibility about him. I love his first album, The Promise. Go see him. :) Adam ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jul 2002 08:37:01 -0700 (PDT) From: Janet Cinelli Subject: [RS] Summerfest I will be at New Bedford. It is such a great venue to see so many wonderful performers. We went 2 years ago and boy was it cheap, $5 for the weekend! I especially like the workshops, you can really see alot of great performances. I am just hoping that the weather will be cooperative. It was the first time I ever saw Richard and Lucy. I am a little disappointed that James Keehlaghan (sp?) isn't going to be there. He was really awesome! Maybe I'll wear my AYHN tee shirt! Janet Sign up for SBC Yahoo! The park seemed to be teeming with fans. Richard started the evening... He brought out Lucy for a couple of numbers and then she "ran away." I didn't keep a set list, but I notice a few people who did... (Is Libby on this list? I saw her reach for her notebook at one point.) Numbers I remember... Arrowhead, Courier, Fishing, Summer Wind Cotten Dress, Transit, America, Ballad of Mary M., Are You Happy Now?, Willing. Lucy was on after a 15 minute break. Again, didn't keep a set list... She did two "new numbers." The 9-11 song and another one. She started with the Greg Brown movie song. Did Scorpion, and others... Did one Irvine K. song... The abc song. Richard joined her several times and was there at the end... The encore was By Way of Sorrow... and then caving to audience demand, Ricard did Sandy-July 4-Bruce song. It was a great evening... even with the teen agers sitting next to me talking while Lucy played. I only had to tell them to keep it down once. Candy ps... No, I'm sorry. Richard didn't start the evening... The evening was started by a young man who did an a cappella version of the national anthem. ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V4 #196 ***********************************
