I had offered the idea of making a contribution from the list for the memorial fund for his daughters. For anyone who wishes to contribute, Lee's friend and sometimes list member here, John Clary, has offered to be the collection point for taking donations through paypal that he will deliver in person in our name to Kelli, Lee's widow. John's paypal address is: clary@broncofix.com And a reminder, for those who would prefer to contribute anything as an individual, the address is the Wessman Memorial Fund, c/o El Dorado Savings Bank, 4040 El Dorado Road, Placerville, CA 95667. I know some of you well enough to know we're not all financially in the places we'd like to be. But even a couple bucks would be a nice gesture. Lee was a good guy, and made some great contributions to the list. While I was not fortunate enough to meet him in person, we passed quite a bit of e-mails between us in the fall and early winter. Then we started gearing up for our April wedding, and things went to hell in a handbasket as far as my personal correspondence went. As some of you know (and most of you don't care,) Lee was one of two people most instrumental in me actually my butt on stage for the first time at age 39 and 363 days and singing my own songs. One of my now-favorite phrases came directly from him, when I would express scepticism at my ability or ponder whether I was just wasting my time picking up guitar at this age or fumbling through writing a song: Art is it's own validation. Think about it. And for those who want to relive some classic Wessman, may i suggest a scan of the archives for "stinky-o's." The man had a gift with words, humor and brevity.
