So I looked it up and "I may never see you again" is the first chorus and "I will love you forever" is in the last chorus. I love the way Bruce says "forever" like it's a question. - --- Sandy the aurora is risin' behind us The pier lights our carnival life forever Love me tonight for I may never see you again Hey Sandy girl Sandy the aurora's rising behind us, the pier lights our carnival life forever Oh love me tonight and I promise I'll love you forever - ---- And Richard will be on "Folk Music & Beyond" on KALW in San Francisco next Saturday (5/4) before his second Freight & Salvage show in Berkeley. Richard and band were great last night at Willy P. The place was packed, which, on the one hand, was great for Richard, but on the other, it was not exactly an intimate venue. Having been there once or twice to see my niece perform with student ensembles, I knew there really wasn't a bad seat in the house. So, Shea Auditorium it was, at least not Shea Stadium (although we had a NY Mets Yearbook with us ... just to confuse). I don't have a set list, but I did want to comment about 4th of July, Asbury Park/Sandy. Richard told a story about a cool older cousin who, in 1973, told him to listen for this guy Bruce Springsteen, and his music shook him out of the British art rock spandex and capes scene. He said he kept listening for him, and this song "Sandy", but never heard it. Then one day in the car, c. 1974, he heard this song "Mandy". And didn't quite get what his cool older cousin was talking about. Heh. Whether it's a true story or not, it was amusing. Anyway, I was wondering about "the aurora". For some reason, I thought it was an amusement park ride down on the boardwalk, not the actual natural phenomenon. Richard said that he remembered seeing an aurora in NJ wayback while driving on Rt. 46. Could be. I don't ever remember one. Of course, I didn't visit Asbury Park during the summer until 1977, so who knows what may have been there. Jersey guys and girls, please advise. I'd never heard him perform "Sitting on Top of the World", so that was a treat, as was "America", and "Before You Go." I'm finding I love "Courier" more and more as I hear it performed live with this band. Ditto for "Arrowhead" and "Kenworth". AYHN was a lot of fun. Anyway, great show. Good to see Ron G. I enjoyed opener Jeffrey Foucault. Nice that he sold out his cd stock. I promise to order one from his website. Kerry, I was the person who asked, "are you Kerry?" The lobby was way too crowded, so Fran and I didn't hang around to see if Richard came out for a meet and greet (translated - I hightailed out to get home and use the facilities - too much info? sorry ). Really, though, it's great that such a crowd was out. Cheers, Nancy, proud mom of a NJ All State Chorus member (sorry, just found out and I had to be a mom and kvell) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 16:36:49 EDT From: FJPQ@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] Sandy lyrics/on the radio In a message dated 04/28/2002 1:12:11 PM Eastern Daylight Time, TRNMT@aol.com writes: << The lobby was way too crowded, so Fran and I didn't hang around to see if Richard came out for a meet and greet (translated - I hightailed out to get home and use the facilities - too much info? sorry ). >> I was disappointed cause I really wanted to see if Richard would autograph the Mets Yearbook....but since it wasn't mine, I guess its just as well...not being a Mets fan (or any baseball for that matter) I imagined how horrified the recipient might be , even though RS's sig might have made the thing a lot more valuable I echo Nancy's comments...great concert...the narrow lobby made hanging out there very unappealing...but Richard and the band were cooking and Jeff was a refreshing opener... though I had thought that Lori McKenna was going to be the opener and i was disappointed about that not being the case.
