Loved Richard's voice on "Cold Missouri Waters" and "Mary Magdalene". But my budget didn't allow me to buy any additional albums. Another friend gave me "Blue Divide", "SNP", and "Spring" (EP CD) ... I listened to BD and SNP repeatedly during my 8-hour drive home from my friend's place in southern Oregon. At that point, I was very much hooked on RS - his voice, his lyrics, his music. I couldn't get enough of "A Summer Wind, A Cotton Dress". To this day, it's my favorite RS song. Last May I saw RS at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley and bought "Sparrows Point" at the concert. I sat in the front row but couldn't get my nerve up to request "Summer Wind". A few weeks after that, I ordered "Reunion Hill" over the Internet. It is always fun to hear how each of us came across Richards music and how we developed a taste for him, be it gradually or rabidly.. Since then I've got 4 of his albums and want the rest. All I can say is thank goodness for lack of will power ( mine) and the plastic. Take care, Alan Who do you know who would like some extra income now the credit cards are biting? Have them email me for details. In a word, FANTASTIC! After one month in the stores, Courier is outselling SNP (Richard's previous best seller), by 30%. It's averaging over 800 sold per week according to Soundscan. We were intially concerned about how the two month window that we gave the fans for web site sales would effect the retail side, but it has had no down side at all. Usually live albums have a harder time getting airplay, but again Courier is surpassing our expectations. The album is currently #11 on the Americana chart and #21 on the AAA chart. It's getting great reviews, too. Go Richard! Bash that one! Dave Who as you can tell just finally got fed up with some of the negative Joan comments here. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2002 21:10:25 -0500 (EST) From: "Vanessa C. Wills" Subject: RE: [RS] C3 Hey! HEY! OK, yes, I certainly know that we can't go around buying everything. But the "he is one-third of the album" comment, I think, misses something important. Yes, only a certain number of tracks on C3 feature RS solos. However, Richard harmonizing is a BEAUTIFUL thing. I luv luv luv his harmonies on "Speaking with the angel," for example. That's what I listen to Dar's and Lucy's tracks for--Richard's beautiful warm tone underneath, supporting them. (Apologies to the respective ladies). So yes, quantitatively speaking, he is still "one-third" of the album, but the other tracks are not totally RS-less by any means. - --V "I am a citizen of the moment.
