He doesn't see a lot of live music, but went and bought them on my recommendation. He had a hard week at work and nearly didn't go because he was too tired and wanted to crash at home, but in the end he went; he sent me a message afterwards saying how glad he was that he went because he, too, was totally blown away. Glad to hear that Peter might be headlining here in the near future! Now we just have to keep asking about Richard doing the same thing. It will happen, it will happen, it will happen.... Buffy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Mar 2002 18:47:18 -0500 From: Kerry Bernard Subject: [RS] Film Songs - The Verdict Thank you all so much for your input on the film project! Choosing Richard's songs was a bit of a challenge and, for a while, we agonized over whether or not we should try to get something "peppier" in there but what it came down to was that his best songs for film are really the slow ones. We didn't want to compromise quality, just for the sake of variety, you know? The other thing is that, with film, you kind of want songs that aren't too lyrically specific (eg. pretty hard to use Are You Happy Now in anything besides a Halloween break-up scene). Anyway, here's the track list for the whole CD (since most of you know our other guys, as well): Peter Mulvey: Grace On the Way Up If Love is Not Enough Rapture Home Chris Smither: Slow Surprise Hold On I Drive You Home Again No Love Today Richard Shindell: Wisteria Merritt Parkway 2am Reunion Hill Before You Go David Goodrich: Accidentals of the West Falling New/Old Joe Jeffrey Foucault: Street Light Halos Miles from the Lightning David Goodrich (aka Goody), for those who don't know, is Peter Mulvey's longtime collaborator/producer/sideman. He's about to put out a new instrumental CD called Accidentals of the West and it's just stunning. Almost entirely acoustic, stringed instruments (guitar, mandolin, banjo, etc) which is quite a departure from his previous disc (oft-described by Peter as "Ry Cooder meets Brian Eno in a dark alley and kicks his ass"). I'll let you know when it's out - I think you guys would really like it. Again, thanks for all of your input - it was EXTREMELY helpful. Now, wish us luck as we go forth and harass a bunch of unsuspecting music supervisors... Which is ironic, because a simple volume equation would have shown him I couldn't fit. I think the casing is not quite as secure as the Maxells, that is, they were slightly more prone to get loose and cause problems, but that was, as you say, on an older machine. for SOUND, for brightness, unbeatable. > ever go near c120s. I am beginning to ocnclude the fault is with ME,either for being a dunce or for always wanting to try complicated things. I HAVE at least one downloaded version of that too and thought it would be easier but when I tried "record" somehow it didn't seem to work right! lisa ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V4 #87 **********************************
