Of course I'm sure there are exceptions (townes would call them sky songs) but to me it's way possible that rs worked on the song in more than one location. Sometimes words flow...sometimes you have to twist, cajole, hammer and chip away to get a trickle. Don't overlook, too, the fact that he may have even mentioned something in passing and been mistaken..."oh, that's right, that was confession I wrote in ron's basement, not transit..." Meanwhile, we hang onto those words as gospel! I do have a C3 live tape where he says he wrote it about the western part of i-80 in PA, a stretch so mind-numbing that he said he used to think the deer on the side of the road were not hit by trucks, but just died of despair. But he doesn't refer to just where the song was written. From the middle of Ohio (never been further west on 80 than that) to the right side of PA, there are a helluva lotta best westerns, btw. Or at least they buy more billboard space than their competitors. I've also heard him tell two versions of how "Are You Happy Now?" came to pass. Dave Carter introduces (almost) every one of his songs with "this is a true story." Long ago, I heard someone say, "Trust the tale, not the teller." Pat p.s. No . . . not bank tellers! ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Hi folks, Just wondering - are there any teachers on this list? I'm curious to know some info about the US school system, and possible transfer of qualifications. I'm a qualified teacher in England and was just wondering if anyone had any insight they could offer. I'd be really grateful if anyone could help me out, with ANY information, actually, not just about qualifications. Please e-mail privately, at buffy9@nora.clara.co.uk. Many thanks, Buffy ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V4 #48 **********************************
