["Norman A. Johnson" Subject: [RS] St. Louis hello! i will be at the STL show with my friend, kathy. (if my return flight from Denver is on time, anyway!). i've been to the off broadway several times...and generally speaking it is a great venue (though there was a rude crowd there - wouldn't stop talking - when i saw Michael Fracasso a couple of months back - but that was the only time). if you get there fairly early, you can sit close. just a warning...no food at this venue...so do try to find something on your way in. i've not been in STL a terribly long time, so i'll leave restaurant recs to those more in the know. i'm pretty excited about this show! get to see richard AND check out this new guy i've heard a thing or two about on some list i'm on ;) christy Great stuff seeking new owners in Yahoo! Nice. You wrote: >>He did a double-take to see who was responsible for this southernmost perpetuation of a northern joke...<< Do you think it was the geographical context of the request that got him to play it? Do you think it might work somewhere else that isn't northern, like say someplace western? ;-) Speaking of unprecedented events involving the weather, I woke up this morning to a light dusting of snow on the ground here in Sebastopol, CA. I have lived in northern California for 16 years and this is the first time I've seen snow here. It was very exciting. I took some pictures which was a good idea, since it's just about gone now. Quite a few schools closed and parents turned into kids.... I've been lurking on the list for a while, and see there a quite a few of you in Northern California. I'm going to see Voices on the Verge, (whom i have discovered through this list), this Thursday at the Freight and have to say i'm pretty excited about it, but as I am sort of new to California I have never been to the infamous Berkeley folk club. I'm in SF and was wondering how easy it was to BART to the Freight? Also, is it necessary to get there early? About how early for an 8 pm show? And can you recommend a place for dinner nearby or do they have food besides yummy desserts there? Don't get me wrong, I love California, but I am sad I don't get to see Richard tomorrow at my beloved smoky Mucky Duck, enjoying Guiness and sheperd's pie and yelling out for 'The Weather'!
