How fabulous would that be? Or one from Dar? Or Dave & Tracy? Geez...this is tilting at windmills, I know. And to Bill E., I DID see the Keb Mo Sessions DVD and almost picked it up as well. Maybe I'll go back and get it. The PBS Series sounds terrific too, gonna look for it. I heard a few negative things about the Down From The Mountain DVD...you know, the one about the making of "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" Anyone else have it, see it? Is it worth buying? I only half-loved the music from the movie...after a while all that time warp twang got on my nerves. I've seen some GREAT RS performances...to have even one of those on DVD...imagine having for posterity the FEZ show in NYC where that drunken girl got up on stage with Richard and danced the Hullabaloo? That would be priceless...then I'd REALLY never have to leave the house. Just kidding. Sort of. The website is www.bobharris.org and the radio programmes, also beamed over the net is http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/bobh_show/ Bob plays Richard quite often but his whole show is good music based. I don't listen to his country programme on Thursdays at 1900hrs GMT but certainly do for his Saturday show which is on at 2200hrs GMT. A second show that is on the net that plays Richard among other greats is Karen Miller on www.spydaradio.co.uk Click on the link for the miller tells her tale then the listen bar. In actual fact there is some Richard on this weeks programme. Email Karen and tell her Rhinohide AKA Alan Teather sent you and she might play you a request next week Take care all, Alan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Dec 2001 14:36:24 +0100 From: Katrin.Uhl@t-online.de (Katrin Uhl) Subject: [RS] Sandy happy December 30th everyone, cold, snowy, stormy winter day here and I have Mr. Shindell playing in my CD player. Was that Vanessa who said Sandy was the best track on the album? Today I have to agree! (tomorrow might be different :) ) Damn, is that one fine version of that song! So I was wondering, Charlie, has Mr. Springsteen been sent a copy of this album and if so, has he said how incredible this rendition is? Wouldn't it be just plain out of this world to see Richard and Bruce on stage together? Man... and the Lucy needs to be there, too. The three of them. I'd pay a lot and fly far to see and hear that!!! more random thoughts on the courier coming up in the near future, Katrin ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Dec 2001 09:23:32 -0500 From: "Greg Z" Subject: [RS] John Putnam The more I listen to Courier, the more I am impressed with John Putnam's playing. I enjoyed it live at the Iron Horse, but with the mixing on the cd it seems more prominent. Picking up new little tidbits at each listen. And somebody gave me James Taylor live on DVD, unfortunately he's morphed from a guilty pleasure to an embarrassing schoolmate over the years. :) DVD mastering and duplication costs can range anywhere from $60,000-$250,000 depending on what whizbang stuff you want to include - this is after your film is made - so for the time being, commercially available folk music releases are likely to be infrequent. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Dec 2001 10:54:43 -0500 From: Lisa Davis & family Subject: Re: [RS] Fwd: Shindell-list-digest V3 #483 Rongrittz@aol.com wrote: > > From: "alan.teather" > A second show that is on the net that plays Richard among other greats is > Karen Miller on www.spydaradio.co.uk > http://www.joinerslive.com/ramtexts/miller.ram is currently playing "Confession" -- my 56k modem buffers/rebuffers but still the quality is pretty good! lisa ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Dec 2001 11:05:35 -0500 From: Lisa Davis & family Subject: [RS] Re: UK radio Rongrittz@aol.com wrote: > > From: "alan.teather" > To: > Subject: RE: shindell-list-digest V3 #483 > Karen Miller on www.spydaradio.co.uk In fact, she just said that "Somewhere near Paterson" is her #1 for 2001. If you like Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris, and Allison Krauss, you'll enjoy the music. There's a great blues track called "John Law burned the liquor store" which is a hoot too. It basically traces the beginnings of "American" music, including blues, gospel, jazz, country, zydeco, 60's folk, etc. Just about anyone who's been influential in these music forms is featured, if any footage exists. It's really great.
