Hey it won`t get any better than that. I haven't been listening extensively (due to lack of time and family stuff) but I am already thrilled and -this is quite funny - I misheard a line of the "next best western" (which I hadn't ever misheard before): it should be: I am wretched, I am tired and I heard: I am Richard, I am tired ;-) AFAIK Charlie mentioned earlier on the list that the order of "Willin'" and "Kenworth of My Dreams" is mixed up on the back of the cd - btw the cddb entry is mixed up as well;-( A Happy New Year to everyone! ~Reinhard ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Dec 2001 16:35:07 -0500 From: jim colbert Subject: [RS] a wee bit late, but courier highlights Wheeeeelp, I'm hoping everyone had a wonderful Festivus or applicable holiday! In checking through my stack of digests awaiting my er, eager return to work I hear grumblings about Kenworth. Blasphemy, blasphemy I cry! One can never have too many versions of such a fun singalong song, in my book. Course, I gotta admit, I've got a fond spot for those all-hopped up on west coast turnarounds truck driving songs...you guys ever hear Son Volt's version of looking at the world through a windshield? Kick some hiney and hand me a Starday t-shirt. So what was my personal choice for favorite song? okay, I guess I gotta disqualify Sonora since that's not on the disc per se. I won't bend the rules and include the trucking trilogy as one song. And it would be cheating to say "everything." So for today anyway, a few finalists: favorite cut today: Arrowhead (although, man, it's neck and neck with fishing.) I just plain love this song live, whether the plaintive rhythm of rs thumping the strings for that acoustic slap thing solo, or this full blown version with denny adding a little more percussion each time through (man, I remember watching this live and saying to the cow tipper, that man is EARNING his money!) biggest surprise: AYHN, which seems to have some new life breathed into it. first song I'd cut to fit sonora's death row on here: 4OJAP(S) One I remembered as liking better at the concert: Memory of You (What I want to hear is the FF version with lucy adding harmony...ah, a man can dream.) Stay tuned tomorrow as we learn the answers to "which is your favorite trilogy on the disc?," "which is your favorite song about Nora," " which was your favorite song in open D tuning," and many others! jpc in a quite nippy pennsylvania ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V3 #479 ***********************************
