(: I do prefer both live versions to the studio, and it still feels a bit out of place to me on SP, but it's just a fun song to me. AYHN does have an instant accessibility factor, and I believe it's been mentioned plenty here that it was the first song a lot of listers either first heard or were first drawn to. It's interesting to note that here, in our near-dilbert maze of cubes, Next Best Western has been the song people have most commented on, during my healthy daily dose of richard (but not played too loud, of course, we need to be respectful of our neighbors or however that's quoted in our employee handbooks). And I don't have a clue why...it is probably one of my five favorite rs songs, but it really wouldn't be one I would think would draw in people who normally don't listen to acoustic (more or less) music. And my favorite rs tune to sing along to? Geez, I usually sing along with everything in the truck, but it would probably be Cold Missouri Waters. If it needs to be self-penned, I'd go with KOMD. (Heck, if it wasn't for listening at work, I don't know if I'd know what richard sounds like without my off-kilter harmonies added to everything!) Now here's one for the guitar players among us: What's your favorite richard song to play? (Might I wager a guess that wisteria, abuelita and by now will be favorites?) jim colbert ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2001 09:03:59 -0500 (EST) From: "Vanessa C. The audience was NOT informed these were being taped until IOWA was played. I was also at the Friday night Emerlin show and the Outpost show. Taping of both of those shows for Richard's upcoming cd was announced and at the Emerlin show, the crowd was rehersed to the different levels of applause, quiet to louder and signals were provided so that the audience could respond accordingly it was pretty contrived to me... sharon _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2001 10:57:36 EST From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: [RS] Re: applause applause >> I was also at the Friday night Emerlin show and the Outpost show. I'm sure it's no place good. ;-) I have to second CMW as a real contender. It seems so strange that a song about some guy on his deathbed talking about a horrible fire that wiped out all his friends and that he's taking the rap for, would also make a great sing-along tune, but Heck, it just does. - --V Reinhard Liess wrote: > oh this is one is simple - certainly "I saw my youth today" - > when listening to it on my way to the office I have really pay > attention not to get thrown out of the subway (due to loud, definitely > imperfect singing;-) > > apart from ISMYT Cold Missouri Waters and Renunion Hill are serious > contenders for a sing along... > > R:) > > At 00:16 17.12.2001 -0500, you wrote: > >> What is your favorite RS song to sing along with (off key or on)when >> you are driving in your car, at your desk, or at home? On a slightly different subject, Sonora's Death Row on the bonus CD has finally got me to tune my guitar to DADGAD! With a little help from http://members.aol.com/rongrittz/others.htm, of course! Sorry you haven't got your Courier yet, Katrin. I managed to keep mine for all of two days, before losing it, and 22 other CDs, including all the candidates for my top ten of 2001, plus my never-leave-home-without-them collection, on a train on Friday. Luckily, whoever found my CD wallet handed it into lost property, and Kay picked it up for me this evening. I was not an upbeat bunny on Sunday when I realised what I'd done!
