We will be offering the bonus ep for anyone who buys 2 or more. Woo hoo. Signature Sounds has always done a great job with getting orders out in a hurry, so it won't be long now. Downloaded 'I Am' last night, and was very surprised to find this entire verse missing from the version many of us heard at the Blixt Cabin: I am my righteous anger I am the innocent I am a willing soldier I am a pacifist I am a child of freedom I am a patriot I am a voice dissenting I am American I am, I am, I am I don't know why Richard removed these lines, but I wish that he hadn't. This verse sums up the confusion many of us have been going through, how torn we are by feelings of revenge, wishes for peace, support for our leaders, respect for our freedoms, and the whole landscape between. I'm sorry these eloquent words will be lost over time. I guess Signature and myself have different opinions about what is "plenty of time for the holidays" :) So here I sit, credit card in hand, along with specially marked boxtops so that I can also get the Sonora EP. Gene-o, Cynthia and I agree wholeheartedly. I didn't feel it was like the song was so long it needed editing; maybe some felt these lines were bordering on patrio-cheese but I disagree. It's part of what made the cabin performance so moving to me, and to me seemed to tie it all together. I know the view has been expressed that the writing just isn't up to richard's standards; we've beat that one into the ground and I'm not gonna rehash my opinion but I do feel that the song has not been strengthened by losing the verses...I think it dilutes it. Course, I liked the longer version of May too. Seemed more balanced or something. First, "Before You Go" on last week's release of the "Wonderland" CD. And now "I Am." Then, in a few weeks, "Courier" is coming out, featuring "Willin'" and "4th of July, Asbury Park." And then the bonus EP -- I believe David Wilcox said it best: Life is good! It's been a real year of extremes for many of us, and these look like wonderful notes to close it on. Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. There have been a few songs written about our favorite holiday dessert, and I think this might be a good time to recount some of our favorites: There is, of course, Mr. Irving Kaplansky's 'Pi' song, which we include here spiritually and phonetically. Andie McDowell sang of her love of pie in 'Michael,' one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. Warrant's 'Cherry Pie' lowered standards in as many ways as one could imagine. The wonderful Golden Smog have a tune called 'Pecan Pie,' chock full of mild double entendre, yet it remains more appealing than appalling. Any more? No fair going to CDNow and searching for 'pie.' Gene F. (Who loves pecan, coconut cream, and banana cream. Some of you have met me. Let see there's also four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie, and the moon hitting your eye like a big pizza pie! Any more?
