There's already a live version of it (on the Treestar compilation) which in my opinion is better than the SP one. I also like how the voice behind the song states his feelings so plainly and honestly without explaining them away or apologizing for them. Part of the freeness of it, methinks. I used to be not such a wholehearted fan of this song, but that's really changed. And the live version is a thousand times more, well, lively than the album version. Like Norman, it wouldn't exactly break my heart if Kenworth were cut. It is an extremely fun song, though, and it would be great if it could be squeezed in somehow. - --V "If your mirror has a monster in it, do not shout, This kind of situation does not call for freaking out, And do nothing that you would not want to see him do, Cause that monster in the mirror, he just might be you." --Grover Monster, "The Monster in The Mirror" On Mon, 30 Jul 2001 jean@jeanius.com wrote: > > Hrm. Not Summer Wind!!!!!!! NONONONONONONONONO. Must have Summer Wind!!!!!!! I myself could live without "Nora"- like the song, but feel that the live version does not offer more than the studio version already does- but I particularly like the trilogy of kenworth/willin'/next best western so I wouldn't want to break that up. And I could STILL live without AYHN, everything else aside. I know that won't happen, but there's my two cents on that again. Keep the change. I'm tellin' ya, a single live + a promo EP with a few bonus cuts on it to appease the completists, ala SNP and the Spring EP. C'mon, that'd make us pretty much all happy. (And I would agree, double live discs well, you're talking a near $30 price tag, and I just can't see that selling on the level of SNP. Neither "Sonora" nor "Willin" are in the same league as most of the RS songs being left off the list for this album. And if you're still evaluating other possibilities to put in, did "May" get recorded? What an incredible song that is. It is the best RS song that I've never seen him do. And I was really hoping the punched-up DADGAD version of "Iron Gate" would make it on there (not the slow version on the CD with Mulvey, but the jaunty one he was doing in Spring of 2000. What a great show starter that was.) - -lee ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2001 20:50:06 -0400 From: "Norman A. No, no, no, no. (To quote one of my favorite "Vicar of Dibley" characters.....) These songs are too essential to the Shindell experience. You can't kill two of the VERY rare "upbeat" Shindell tunes, although I know there are those here who wouldn't mind wall to wall dark night of the soul...... ......CaroL ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2001 21:34:08 EDT From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: [RS] Re: leftovers >> I'd edit out the cover songs. Hell, while I'm being sacrilegious, the live version of "Wisteria" is practically identical to the version on SNP, and I'd even give up THAT in order to keep "Sonora" or "Sandy." I'm more than willin' to lose "Willin'," though. >> And if you're still evaluating other possibilities to put in, did "May" get recorded? << Nah, not at either show. Too bad, too, since it's one of my mostest favoritest RS songs. RG ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V3 #243 ***********************************
