Welcome, Greg. I'm pretty new to the list myself, although I've followed richard since the fast folk days. I'm a Stewart fan too, actually dating back to about the same time I first heard richard (I used to always have to order the imports from Zuma records) although sort of like iain Matthews, John started putting out so much stuff for a while I simply couldn't keep up. I love the whole "basement tapes" idea, some people complain about the duplication but I enjoy hearing sometimes how songs have evolved from demo to vinyl, er, disc. I haven't really followed stewart news since last summer- is buffy doing okay? Jim Colbert State College PA and heading for Godfrey Daniels tonight... No Richard did not play this, but I did at an open mic near Philly last night. People really seemed to enjoy it too. For those interested and in the area, I've been playing alot at The Point in Bryn Mawr (http://www.atthepoint.com) on Tuesday nights. Great night of entertainment, and you only have to purchase $3.00 worth of food/beverages (their coffee is great!) I'm starting to become known as the guy who plays Richard Shindell, which is great because the host, who is a Richard fan, always gives me a nice introduction. So far I've played The Weather, Reunion Hill, Are you Happy Now, Summer Wind, and Wisteria. For those seeing him at Godfrey Daniels, have a great time... I saw him there last March while visiting my old college haunt (Lafayette College), nice intimate venue, and also great Coffee (I think I need more coffee this morning!) - -Evan "Rambling away on a Warm Wednesday Morning" Gordon Evan A. She doesn't like to be on the road a lot, so she does a lot of stuff in the bay area with lots of artists. She even teaches private guitar lessons here in the bay area and doesn't like to desert her students for too long. tricia ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 May 2001 14:50:14 -0400 From: Elwestrand Subject: Re: [RS] Nina G Which reminds me that I was gonna tell everyone that she is supposed to be on Prarie Home Companion this weekend. For her b-day celebration!!! She requested Richard for her b-day. I have to say, she's got taste. If you'll be there drop me a line off-list and we should meet up! :-) Anyway, the list has been fairly quiet of late, so I'll throw this out there. Richard is becoming quite a favorite over here at the 2 Dickinson St. Vegetarian Cooperative. :-) My friend Kim, for example, constantly walks about muttering, "There's just something about his _voice_! . . . There's just something about his _voice_!" My friend Amanda came up to me today and said, "You know, I really like Richard now. After hearing you play him in the kitchen, and hearing it through the walls when you play it in your room, or sing it in the shower, or when I'm walking down the hallway past your room and he's in your CD changer." And my cooking group (We are "Tough Love Tuesday") regularly requests that Richard's dulcet tones inspire our culinary creativity. Peter Mulvey is also a hardy perennial in the Tough Love Tuesday CD changer. Peter also inspires Kim to say, "There's just something about his _voice_!" but that's only if she can get a word out at all, what with all the panting. (I hope Kim doesn't kill me--Hi, Kim!).
