I believe at that point he launched into Nora instead. Good tune! And I was just sitting here listening to otis redding... which led me to ponder, what soul song would I want to hear richard sing? My initial thoughts are either I've been loving you too long to stop now, or maybe dark end of the street (which, like much of the muscle shoals creations could also be considered country, depending whose version you think of it... I'm somewhere between R&L thompson's and Dan Penn's...) jim colbert in a frosty state college pa ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2001 10:46:44 +0000 From: jcolb Subject: [RS] eric andersen and tom rush > Subject: Eric and Tom Rush 5/6 NYC > > Hi Friends, > Happy Spring! (From what i hear, he alienated some people with some really sloppy, drunken performances in the ny metro area with Townes in the early nineties... but I don't know this for a fact.) Both times I've seen him, he was pretty damned good. "Faithful," solo, is one of my all time favorite songs. I think he sometimes misses the mark on his studio albums though, and my main thought is geez, I wish I could just hear the demos of the songs. jpc ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2001 07:58:10 -0800 (PST) From: Deb Woodell Subject: [RS] 'S no smoe... Hey, folks, I got a post from the Melissa Ferrick list moderator that the owner of smoe.org's server is moving and that smoe will be down much of Thursday. She said they estimate it will be down from about 5 am to 6 pm Eastern Time. Mail will be queued until the server is back up, then sent on its merry way. Deb ===== You can take the rock band away from the girl and think you've tamed her. But, she'll just pick up an acoustic, give you that innocent little girl grin, quietly laugh and say? "Nevah!" He's usually on, but he can be a real airhead. He lost his harmonica somwhere on his person on the stage at the Bottom Line one time. He literally put it somwhere on himself ( a pocket, or soemthing) and then coudln't find it 5 minutes later, so he played Thirsty Boots without it. (bummer). On the other hand, he's been overpowering with his writing and singing at times. Saw him another time at the BL (after having dinner next to him and his wife at a local restaurant) when he played a "Violets of the Dawn" that was so good it made you want to cry. Made ME wonder understand why Dylan would ridicule him - no way Dylan could ever sing like that.
