Let's do our own Grammy awards. Anyone out there with the skills to put together a list that we can vote on. It would take some technical know how but a simple program could allow us to vote on the top 10 folk CD's for 2000 and the top whatever 50? Folk CD's ever. Video Section Julie Miller The Julie Miller Story This is the 50 minute documentary that goes with the "When Life Hurts" CD from 1995. Julie literally drives you through her hometown, visits her old stomping grounds, and tells her stories both funny and tragic, and finally how her faith got her through it all. There is some great concert footage with Buddy and band between segments. The best part is at the end when you visit the Miller's home and see Julie's many cats followed by Julie and Buddy singing "My Love Will Follow You" on their sofa. I went last year for the first time and God knows I'm no camper but I had so much fun! I was on cloud 9 for weeks afterwards too. THe only regret was not taking more pictures!! Is there any web site that says who will be there this year? The official site doesn't have performers listed yet. I also want to say how much fun I've been having reading the archives! I'm up to April 1999 and I especially like the SOTW posts. Janet Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! I am reading a bio of Nick Drake (and trust me, I have been a Nick Drake fan since the early 1980s--long before the Volkswagon ad) and musicians keep talking about how intricate and wonderful his opening tunings were. Now I know that Joni Mitchell uses them too, but could someone out there tell poor ignorant me (who can, in a pinch, play the number organ, but that's pushing it), what an open tuning is. Are regular tunings closed tunings? Does Richard use them? Is there a song of his that uses them that I can listen to? As you can probably tell, one of my greatest disappointments is that I can't play music. LOL. Thanks!
