Hey all you RS people, I need some help. I have been totally redoing my web-page and I need an opinions on the following question: If you could choose one symbol (i.e. black and white icon) to represent the category of folk music, what would it be? Normally I'd choose an acoustic guitar, but that is already used for the guitar category. The only thing I can think of is a peace sign, but I will not use that. ;) Please let me know of any good ideas! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jan 2001 18:08:41 -0500 From: "Donald Robertson" Subject: [RS] Out-of-luck-In-The-Burbs Hello Listmeisters, Chip here, checking in after much lurking. Anxiously looking forward to the outpost show on 2/2/01. Unfortunately, I figured tickets would be readily available when we got to the door. Much to my chagrin, the show is sold out. If anyone has a pair they are not using and are feeling generous, merciful or are looking for a good karma builder, please let me know. I would be in your debt for , uh, a really long time. Might even wash your car a few times. Help, pleeeeeeeeeease? Thanx, Chip ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jan 2001 19:26:04 -0500 From: Elwestrand Subject: Re: [RS] Sold Out-post. Come to think of it, when James opened for Richard at the "Soy > > Bomb" show at Fez in September '99, he sang the song . . . and I guess > it's > his after all . . . oh well. Wanted to chime in to say I like James' version just as well as Richard's. He is absolutely amazing in his own right. And live he ends the song with a few wistful moments of Shendandoah and if you aren't crying by then, well what's wrong with you? In addition he has an equally amazing disaster song, "Captain Torres." I hope you guys get to hear that one. Request it if he doesn't play it. And if any of you are hopeless romantics make sure to request "Mirabeau Bridge." I am so jealous of the fact you Easterners get to see this show I could spit! Which brings up a point. Doesn't the West Coast (and I mean LA, Portland, Seattle- not just Northern CA)deserve to see Lucy and Richard together? What are we chopped liver? They both tour here so why can't they do it together? Re: the live album. Well I can tell you what would be a dream come true is an accoustic, no band, version of Calling the Moon with Dar and Lucy on harmony. Can you imagine????? The songs that I'd love to hear are: You Again, Lazy, CTM, The Things That I Have Seen and On a Sea of Fleur-de-lis. I'd love to see a minimum of prisoner songs, serial killer songs and truck songs. But that's just me. Lastly I could do without the band entirely. Isn't that what the albums are for? His voice and guitar work stand alone. I am hopeful about this album having recently purchased Chris Smither's live one. It is sounds amazing. Charlie and gang know what their doing. I don't understand, people. Have those of you balking at twenty buck Richard tix ever actually seen a Richard Shindell show? Do you know who he is? Poor college student though I be, I would gladly give that man a measly twenty bucks for the joy he gives me at every concert. Just my little old opinion, though.
