Laurel got there early and saved us a table right in front (thanks, Laurel!!). Back in September, Dave dedicated "Kate..." to Ron at the Bottom Line. Dave was so tickled that Ron flew 3000 miles to see them that he dedicated another one to him (Leaving Caroline -- beautiful song) and mentioned him by name three times. Too bad no one recorded it. Tracy got to sing a ton this show. Wow. I'm, uh...in awe and her fiddling is incredible too. Their chemistry on stage is spectacular. I can't believe I never took y'all's advise and bought their cds before now. My next paycheck is spent and so should yours! Their new cd, Drum Hat Buddha, comes out in June and Tracy gets at least half the lead vocals. BTW, Tracy says DHB is not Dave's new name; the cd will have a drum, a Stetson and a Buddha on the cover to give record store browsers an idea of what's inside. On a side note, Dave started writing a song in the parking lot last time he was in San Jose a while back. He finished the last verses Saturday right before the show and asked if someone would hold the spiral-bound note book for him. Of course I volunteered. I was a little self conscious but giddy too. It's too new to get on DHB as that's already "in the can" but it was a keeper. What's it called, Laurel? Ron? Songs that impressed me were Caroline, Liza Jane, Texas Underground, Hwy 80 Is a Mighty Fine Road (seems they like the drive between the Jersey Shore and San Francisco and Tracy's whispered interjections on this one must be seen to be appreciated), Tanglewood Tree (takes the Wisteria concept to a new level), The River Where She Sleeps, September Sea (unrecorded, but should be) and of course Kate and the Ghost of Lost love is, as many of you have stated, the PERFECT song. Dave didn't get around to doing the Elvis song. I hope I didn't miss the best one... =) Anyway, since this IS Dave and Tracy list after all, if you haven't given them a listen by now, what are you waiting for?!?!! j a c ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2001 22:44:14 +0100 From: Katrin.Uhl@t-online.de (Katrin Uhl) Subject: [RS] decisions, decisions... Oh no, I see a music-nightmare approaching! Somebody help me, I know no way out! :) : So I plan a trip to the US to sooth my music-longing mind and soul, a trip down South and a few days in Boston to finish it appropriately, and it's all looking fine on the horizon, until I run a music-cal search for my two favorite Young&Hunter artists... and what do I see? Richard and Peter are playing within 8 miles from each other (according to mapquest), within about 40 miles from Boston, on the same night - May 5th!!!!! This is your worst possible music-nightmare: two of my favorite top-three male artists and I can only chose one! This can't be true - Charlie, Kerry, say it isn't please!! :) There is no way I can decide on just one of them... Of course mapquest could be wrong and it's not 8 but 800 miles, in which case I'd be happy. ... but so far mapquest has been pretty reliable... :) Katrin - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- i do it for the joy it brings because i'm a joyful girl because the world owes me nothing and we owe each other the world ani difranco ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2001 21:03:41 EST From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] Dave and Tracy link << On a side note, Dave started writing a song in the parking lot last time he was in San Jose a while back.
