He's definitely going to be on my top ten for the year (when I get around to putting it together...) And I agree on Emmylou's album. Truly a brilliant piece of work. - --Rebecca :) >>> kartalst@gse.harvard.edu 12/21/00 19:48 PM >>> A friend recently picked up the David Gray and, on a very quick first-listen, said it was OK but wasn't sure if the album really lived up to the hype. I don't know Shelby Lynne's album but have seen it all over the record stores. The Emmylou Harris is INDEED an amazing album and definitely worthy of being in the "top 3" for the year. Anyone who doesn't have it should go get it! It's so so so beautiful...and her cover of Patty Griffin's "One Big Love" with Patty singing background vocals is just outstanding...really outstanding... My top ten albums of Y2K, in no particular order other than the order in which they occur to me: Emmylou Harris-Red Dirt Girl Richard Shindell-Somewhere Near Patterson Radiohead-Kid A Dar Williams-The Geren World Jess Klein-Draw Them Near William Orbit-Pieces in a Modern Style Tara MacLean-Passenger The Cure-Bloodflowers Joni Mitchell-Both Sides Now Aimee Mann-Bachelor No. 2 I think that's pretty much all the albums I even purchased that were made in the last year. Hmm. But they're all GOOD....... stephanie >Their top three are: > >1. David Gray - White Ladder >2. Shelby Lynne - I Am Shelby Lynne >3.
