Ellis' response.... >>>the difference between the Pushstars and me, is that they have to play rock star off stage which can sometimes be all the things you say it looked like-- but that is what they wanted and dreamed of being-- somtimes the image thing gets in the way of the sincerity you want to witness in the art. But they are really great guys, and the songs are real, and heartfelt-- and as long as they keeo striiving for that they will be successful. It is a weird existence being a a performer, so much of it is fantasy based, both for the artist and for the audience. Do yourself a favor and approach those guys next time, and be real, and create a bridge over the fantasy, and they will meet you in a real way and abondon all the rock star stuff for at least a moment... :)<<< SMOKEY For my Best Buddy, Rex "The memory is a useful thing, store the good stuff in the easy to reach places, put the rest in the attic with the cobwebs where it belongs..." - -Ellis Paul ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2000 20:33:12 EST From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: [RS] ADMIN: Attention AOL 6.0 users I picked this up from the Mad Mission (Patty Griffin) list, but it concerns the Shindell-list as well, since we're both hosted at smoe.org: _________________________________ I just want to alert all subscribers to this list about a problem with the new AOL 6.0 and problems it causes with all of the mailing lists hosted by smoe.org. PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT a concern if you use AOL 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0. This is only if you have AOL 6.0 or plan to upgrade to 6.0 To make a long story short, the new AOL 6.0 sends all email with "HTML formatting" and does not have an option to send just plain text. What happens then is all email sent from an AOL 6.0 account to a smoe.org mailing list is bounced (rejected) by the listserve software and is then forwarded onto the list owner for fixing/approval. The list owner then gets the post and has to do some magic and then send the post on. This of course will result in a delay for your post in reaching the list. (RG note: as well as making Sally a crazy lady). So, if you now have AOL 6.0 and send a post and are perplexed as to why it did not show up yet or showed up hours later, you now know why. This is causing problems on other list serves across the planet, and AOL has been made aware of the problem. In the mean time, the owners of smoe.org are working on a solution with some software they can install that would automatically fix the offending AOL email and send it on without it bouncing. In the mean time, if you are active on this list and have been considering upgrading to version 6.0 of AOL, you might want to hold off a while until this problem is rectified. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Nov 2000 21:02:12 EST From: SMOKEY596@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] ADMIN: Attention AOL TEST Thanks for telling me, ....just a couple of hours AFTER I "upgraded" to AOL 6. From all of the messages I've read about it on the help boards, it seems to be a pretty big problem, so hopefully they'll fix it soon. I'm trying my own little fix....let's see if it works.
