Because the refreshments are good and free. To mingle, meet new and interesting people. Because Dave and Tracy are AMAZINGLY GIFTED, and you won't be sorry. To support independent music. How (much): one measily $10 bill, please call for reservations. Dave and Tracy are incredibly talented singer-songwriters and musicians who are truly talented at crafting songs that leave nothing, and everything, to the imagination. They are classic folk artists who deserve more recognition than they've been afforded. Come meet them and take a look, you won't be disappointed! It's not just me who loves them... check out these recent reviews: "In the world of folk music there are a lot of killer players and singers who can reach out to an audience and touch them on a profound level, so it takes something extra special to literally revolutionize the genre. Well, Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer have done just that." - -Album Network, on "Tanglewood Tree" "When I heard Dave Carter at a [Kerrville] campfire, every hair on my body stood up and tingled. Dave is one of a handful of true poets plying the songwriting trade. I'd recommend him and Tracy without reservation to...any listener who is open to what I found to be the profoundly moving spiritual experience of listening to their music." - - Al Grierson, Songwriter, Luckenbach, TX "Dave Carter is simply the best songwriter I've come across in many years. He goes to some very dark places, (so we don't have to), comes back and tells us about them in song. Tracy Grammer's exquisite accompaniment is just the right touch for these songs. Go see these guys now, while you can still get a seat close up." - - Darryl Purpose, Songwriter, Boston, MA See you on the 22nd! I told her about Richard's early this year. Since then, she's been finding refuge in his music while going through a divorce, forest fires and other calamities. I'm taking the liberty of sharing this because I knew you guys would find something in it. Here it is: Oh Lee! The most wonderful thing has happened! Brent's sister Sue lives in Santa Cruz. This last spring, early summer, after I got the Richard Shindell cd at your urging, I was type babbling on and on to her about how great his music is. As kismet would have it, he was going to play a house concert there at the home of one of her friends and she had been invited. I had met the lady who hosted the concert years ago, just briefly. A few weeks ago I received an e-mail from her, saying she had heard how much I liked his music and she had a signed copy of "Somewhere Near Paterson" for me. Yesterday really sucked, hurt, and was otherwise just plain miserable. I was in a real need of a cosmic pat on the back, and then I went to pick up my mail. Well, there was the signed cd, with a lovely note from Laurel. When she said "signed cd" I just figured he'd write his name on it and that would be great. He actually wrote; "To Tanya (in the middle of Idaho), Be Brave! Richard Shindell" The timing, the gift, the message, the graciousness of it, and the jump start it gave my very discouraged spirit, were all so perfect! And it all started with you, from you to Laurel to Richard Shindell. You started a very wonderful chain of events and I thank you. I have my play copy of it so this one will stay pristine. I am going to write a will because now I have something to leave, a signed copy of his cd that I am going to leave to you! Don't take that wrong. I am not in that kind of space at all and am just making a weird kind of joke. Things are tough and I am having a time of it but I am just glad to be in the game. I know now that this how the universe talks to those of us who are too stubborn to listen in the first place. Anyway, m'dear, thank you again so much for the gift of this man's music and the gift that he just is. Love and the blessing that is in words.......T _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Hello, Anyone have any info on The Mint Club in LA? Never heard of it. According to the web there is a really cool acid club in London called The Mint. Unfortunately that isn't too helpful. I called their info line, but have to wait for them to get back to me. That doesn't seem right! Wait....but, but.... Feel free to answer off-list. Does anyone happen to know if Richard has a policy on taping shows at all? I am just wondering, cause I have a friend that is into recording shows of super hippie bands (string cheese incident, etc) and I was wondering if it would be cool with Richard to tape from the audience (doesnt have to be soundboard or anything...) If anyone knows, please post or email me to let me know, thanks! Peace all.
