Dave and Tracy got things going with Tanglewood Tree, Crocodile Man, Cat-Eye Willie Claims His Lover, When I Go AND Kate and the Ghost of Lost Love (swoon). No ambulances nor EMTs were required for Ron, but it was extremely cool when Dave referred to their "friend Ron." Extremely not cool when TBL staff loaded the glass recycling bin during KATGOLL. I have to admit that I'm not terribly familiar with Jess Klein's work, though this is the second time I've seen her. She was fine, but broke the spell in which D&T had bound me. Finally, Richard and the band. I really do prefer to hear him solo, but the band was good. Unfortunately there was some annoying feedback. He opened with Confession, then (I think) Abuelita. Before you know it, he's introducing LUCY K. and doing Kenworth of my Dreams!. Then, in no particular order, The Next Best Western Fishing (he introduced this and RH by saying it was a song Joan Baez recorded) Reunion Hill Wisteria You Stay Here Mary Magdalen (with Lucy taking the lead) Sin City (with Lucy) Are You Happy Now (WL) a Peter Rowan tune which I don't know :( Transit E:Sing Me Back Home (he dragged Lucy back on for this too) It seemed like there were more...perhaps I forgot something? It was really nice seeing Lucy out there with Richard. It looked like fun for them. I couldn't help but smile. Another cool moment occurred when Charlie told RS that he had time to do some more numbers ("I should know. I'm your manager!") THANK YOU CHARLIE!!!. Anyway, I wish we could have stayed for the 10pm show, but it was not to be. I'll bet it was great too, even if Lucy wasn't there. I have an old bluegrass album by Old & In The Way (David Grisman, Jerry Garcia & Peter Rowan with a bass player and Vassar Clements on violin) and they sing this song called "The Hobo Song." It's a great song. I didn't know RS was playing that tune now in concert. It's interesting that he has some connection to bluegrass. He also does "Sittin' On Top of the World" which is a pretty standard part of the bluegrass repertoire. I would love to hear him do "The Hobo Song." Maybe he'll play it in Battle Creek next weekend.
