Just something to keep in mind in the future, guys. At least it sounds closer to the DADGAD version by playing it this way. BTW, if anyone wants the chords to Carter & Grammer's "Happytown" email me privately. The best I can do with my own typical few moments of complete incomprehensibility, in public speaking, is to try to have an endearing personality so they'll forgive me! >> I think this is one thing that Richard has learned/ become better about by performing with Dar. She is so good at that sometimes her reactions to the mistakes are the best part. Case in point when Dar introduced "This is not the House that Pain Built" at the Iron Horse in May, she said she knew all of its words but a few. For those she said would sing "lalala". After going through those she said (still in mid-song) "what's the line?". When told what they were, she said " 'I was drowning in something/ I jumped in the rift'?... That's a mixed metaphor. Well, I knew it wasn't the greatest line. Now that next line 'I spat out my gift', I like that". Richard's become much better at doing this; his "plane ride from hell" concert is a prime example. SMOKEY ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2000 19:08:26 -0400 From: Paul Rafanello Subject: [RS] 6:30 Mansion 09.10.2000 My wife & I were at the 6:30 Mansion show (Middletown, NY) to see RS, Lincoln, and John Putman. Richard had the same lineup as the Turning Point show two months ago, except no drummer or Lucy Kaplansky this time 'round. Up first was Beth Amsel. She performed for 21 minutes, and played 4 songs, and I was hooked. Fans of Lucy will not be disappointed. Her last song was a hymn performed acapella. Very nice sample, and I look forward to seeing her again. After a short intermission, Richard came out in his trademark jeans, and t-shirt. He must have just gotten a haircut, and my wife said he was very cute. The Mansion began rocking as RS broke into "Confession". The setlist: Confession Kenworth Of My Dreams Next Best Western Wisteria Just An Old Hobo (Peter Rowan) - not sure on this title Abeulita Fisherman Reunion Hill Arrowhead Ascent Shades Of Grey The Ballad Of Mary Magdalene Sittin' On The Top Of The World (Elmore James) Are You Happy Now You Stay Here Transit E: Sing Me Back Home (Merle Haggard) Overall, it felt like a repeat of the 07.21.00 Turning Point show, but it was still a blast. I loved the Elmore James cover. John Putnam rocked. I have to skip the BL show on Thursday (Lynn Miles), and Mahwah on Friday (Ariel). Anyone going to see Lucy ay the Rosendale Cafe on Sunday?
