In 1987, I was attending Philadelphia Folk festival for the my 24th year. While hanging out at the campsite, a young woman walked into the site, introduced herself, played a tune, and handed out her "demo" which was a 7 inch vinyl 33rpm record. We were kind of surprised when she showed up on stage as well. That same artist showed up at Appel Farm festival this year, and as I was unavoidably detained, I sent my son up to the other stage to get those records signed. She just laughed, commented on how old they were and signed them "Thanks for listening all these years, Mary Chapin Carpenter" Charlie Sweeney (=}===# Virtual Guitarist-Something Black http://somethingblack.com http://susanwerner.com http://karensavoca.com http://lastgreatkiss.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Jul 2000 21:54:19 EDT From: TRNMT@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] DAVE AND TRACY!!!!! I'd like to see someone just *try* not to like them after hearing "When I Go," "Kate and the Ghost of Lost Love," and "The River, Where She Sleeps." I must have listened to the album fifteen times since last night. Perhaps more. No, make that DEFINITELY more. >> Well, it's about time!!! As RonG says on his website," ... including the most perfect song ever written, Kate and the Ghost of Lost Love". I am soooo jealous of you all who have seen them live this weekend past. They're playing Winterhawk, too, aren't they? Oh well. Must be patient.
