Kerry :) NP: JABE, Twenty Point Turn - Don't know why but Jabe Beyer always reminds me of Paul Simon - not that they're particularly similar but there's just something there, musically and lyrically. Very cool guy. CD features guest appearances by Jess Klein and Kris Delmhorst. Also, the song "If I Had a Basketball" features one of my favourite lines ever: "Someone once told me I always got a look on my face like I just did somethin' wrong." ;) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2000 16:11:08 -0400 From: Kerry Bernard Subject: [RS] p.s. www.jabe.net ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 18:20:44 -0400 From: Katie Mahoney Subject: [RS] But literally on your t-shirt it said "trouble," what was I s'posed to do? Hi all, Okay, as I promised: updates on the Richard-list t-shirt. As of now, the tentative design is a fleur-de-lis crossed with a tire iron. Charlie said he's considering making both pins and t-shirts; the pin will have only that on it, and the t-shirt will have that on the front underneath the words "St. Agnes' Prison Choir," with instructions for joining the list on the sleeve. Now, the only question is what to put on the back. Some people had suggested putting the names of cities where listers live. Charlie's concern is that this will be totally inexplicable to people who aren't on the list and wouldn't understand. Is it ridiculous to have a bunch of random cities without tour dates, or is it an idea you guys like? Let me know. And send me other ideas about what you think should go on the back of the t-shirt. Next, thank you SO MUCH to all the people who made donations to the Snowden Environmental Trust for "Che Lives" CD's. We have received 7 of the checks, and are waiting for 3 more (since I last talked to Charlie, we may have gotten those 3 checks, but if not) - PLEASE send Charlie your money if you haven't done so already. He said he's investigating donating the money to an organization that helps injured raptors (because of the hawk soaring over Reunion Hill, get it?) and he'll let the list know as soon as he finds out more about this. And finally, Y/H is thinking of releasing "Waiting For the Storm" as a single, sometime around August (just in time for hurricane season, of course!). Okay, that's all the official news I have for ya. Hope you're all well! Ciao! Katie ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! I got the word, I got the message, I'm taking you at face value. . . Yay, pins! OK, that's all--just wanted to acknowledge the Nields quote and the hope of pins. :-) Peace, Vanessa ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 19:03:51 EDT From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] But literally on your t-shirt it said "trouble," what was I s'posed ... << Now, the only question is what to put on the back. I'm also not a big fan of tour dates . . . which tour do you put on? We could, perish the thought, put NOTHING on the back, y'know. Elegance and understatement ain't such a bad thing. Sounds to me like too much happening at one time, design wise. And will anyone but us be able to identify that it is crossed with a tire iron? And then add the concept of the Choir. Personally, I think you guys are trying to work in too many concepts. Also if you are going to do all of this, pray God don't put anything on the back. ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number - Free Free voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2000 20:12:36 -0400 From: "Norman A. Norman PS- I like the thought about SET contributing to help protect raptors. BTW, has anyone ever seen the Blair Brown/ John Beluchi (I kid you not) movie "Contential Divide". BB plays a naturalist working in Colorado (I think) protecting raptors and JB plays a newspaper reporter. PPS- Yes, T-shirts can be read the wrong way. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Jul 2000 00:14:33 -0400 From: "L. I must say you almost want a concordance to richard's songs sometimes. it reminds me of why I became a history major, I got so convinced you couldn't really understand what the writers of literature were even *talking* about if you didnt' know the historical context. I think he's doing this less than before! As I've mentioned before, I (used to be) on teh Al Stewart list -- he has a line in one song about how on "this stage" the players "strut and they fret their hour" which is taken from Macbeth, noone had picked up on this either but someone else noted it. tricky when your songwriters are great readers! lisa digging out after vacation ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Jul 2000 00:37:05 -0400 From: "Norman A. Consider also the "Tiger" reference in "You Stay Here" (That one stumped me, I *thought* he was talking about Felis tigris!).
