Simple but tight arrangements, smart lyrics, excellent production. Honest music. He's been around, I know, but this is a great record, coming after the poor boy's woes with his record label and former management. And if you like Dylan or Springsteen, you'll surely love Steve Forbert. Just got an advanced copy of Greg Brown's new "Covenant" CD and, geez, it's a killer. The guy is just too awesome for words. As you may have read on this list a few days ago, recommendations on which one to buy are varied, so I guess you'll need to get them all. :-) SMOKEY Embrace what you have in common, celebrate what sets you apart It takes more than the color that you find on a palate to turn humanity into an art... -Ellis Paul ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Jul 2000 00:20:07 +0200 From: Katrin.Uhl@t-online.de (Katrin Uhl) Subject: RE: [RS] a new ellis paul convert > after all the gushing about ellis paul on the list, i > decided to go to his club passim concert last night.... > but it had to have been one of the most > spellbinding shows i've been to since richard's passim > show last year. amazing! Okay, enough of that before Richard feels neglected :-) Katrin PS: does anybody know when Richard's appearance on Acoustic Radio was taped? I am listening to it right now and I think I have listened to it before but can't remember from when it dates. SNP definitely, but what month? ah... if I had a brain ____________________________________________ "baby lets live in the moment because it feels like life is taking the moment away" Ellis Paul ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V2 #144 ***********************************
