["Clary, John (CLRY)" Subject: RE: [RS] Morsel Pat shared: >> I found this on the web . . .<><< I think I remember Richard telling David Dye on World Cafe that when he started that song Sr. Maria was only in the first part and that he set it aside for a while. It was only about the traffic jam at that point. Much later, he revisited the song and it turned from then traffic to Sr. Maria again. So, it doesn't end in ascension now, but redemption. I wonder how many of his songs are written over long periods of time and end up in a different place altogether. Someone told me that Money For Floods started out very different. Wait, I found that note: >>In early '97, "Money for Floods" was an entirely different song, different melody, different story. Almost sounded like "Sparrows Point," melodically, and it was about Eliza and her daughter dealing with a harsh winter. My name is Eliza From Richmond, Virginia My daughter Louise will be three in the Spring If Spring ever comes It's beginning to feel Like Winter will never surrender the fields . . .<< j a c ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Jun 2000 17:45:21 -0700 From: "Clary, John (CLRY)" Subject: [RS] July in Santa Cruz cancelled? I was just double checking the Kuumbwa Jazz Center web site in Santa Cruz and Richard's Wednesday 7/12 show there is still not listed, so I checked Musi-cal again and it's gone! Any word as to why? He did add a Carson City, NV date for Thursday 7/13. Lee Wessman, that might be a great place for you in addition to Sebastopol! I'm still debating Lakeside. j a c ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V2 #128 ***********************************
