At this point, the following acts have been booked [Erica Wheeler, Billy Jonas, Jack Williams, and One Drum (with David Stocker :-) ], with a few other main stage positions yet to be finalized - the remaining slots will be filled by Florida performers; returning 2000 songwriter competition winners (Bill Ward, Chris Chandler, Kate Long); and the 2001 Top Twenty contestants, doing "in-the-rounds". The ads for our songwriters competition are currently in Performing Songwriter and Dirty Linen magazines - check out the details below. [Unfortunately this year I will not be a preliminary judge (guess I had to give someone else a chance - sob!), but in my new position of artist liaison, I will continue to book the Borders gigs the Friday night before the festival, in addition to coordinating home hospitality, transportation, camping needs, etc.] I've said before that January in South Florida is a lovely place to be, so enter early and often! - if you're not a songwriter, come on down anyway... :-) <> ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 May 2000 12:04:10 EDT From: FJPQ@aol.com Subject: [RS] Shirts - being counted hi everyone, I'm breaking out of my role of consummate lurker to cast my vote for the "St. Agnes' Prison Choir" though I am not sure since "...altos and baritone, basses and tenors..." are the only ranges mentioned. what's a soprano to do? discussing it with my Sister (no, not Maria, its Nancy(TRNMT)) I suggested that perhaps sopranos don't commit crimes...well, then again, there is always Tony Soprano and his "family"......ANYWAY, it would be kind of neat if there was a prisoner# or cell-block# on it. and black on white... white on black...matters not, as long as its not shocking pink on lime green :) that would be too bold a fashion statement for me. dime-a-dozen soprano ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 May 2000 12:38:19 EDT From: TRNMT@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] Shirts - being counted In a message dated 5/29/00 12:14:10 PM Eastern Daylight Time, my sister Fran the soprano wrote: << I'm breaking out of my role of consummate lurker to cast my vote for the "St. Agnes' Prison Choir" though I am not sure since "...altos and baritone, basses and tenors..." are the only ranges mentioned. what's a soprano to do? discussing it with my Sister (no, not Maria, its Nancy(TRNMT)) I suggested that perhaps sopranos don't commit crimes.. >> Well, I don't know about that...some of the Texaco Metropolitan Opera broadcasts on Saturday afternoons have been downright criminal : P But if we're going on tour, there's a St. Agnes' Episcopal in Little Falls, NJ and right in dear Paterson is St. Agnes Church down on Main Street. Included in the tour could be the Passaic County Jail on Marshall St. in Paterson. Where's the Essex County corrections facility? Caldwell? Anyone have the address of Rahway? Ciao! Katie T-SHIRT IDEAS: "In DADGAD We Trust" "Hey Duck, Hows about a refill?" "Are you happy Cow?" "Thank God the traffic was light!" "Shindell's List" "I am wretched, I am tired." "Just Touchy as Hell" One of the bumper sticker suggestions: - -My other car is a Kenworth - -Deliver me to the next Best Western - -There is no sin, we can turn the other cheek or take it on the chin . . . - -They always find money for floods - -I wish I could believe - -Whoever watches over all these truckers? - -Are you happy now? - -I brake for nuns changing tires - -I used to go to therapy but who needs all that work - -I'm just touchy as hell - -Somewhere near Paterson everything slows to a crawl - -Have you missed your exit? There are a number of designs for the fleur-de-lis on the web somewhere. It would be good *not* to have it look like the New Orleans Saints' logo, I'd suppose. Well, these *were* my ideas, after all!! Pat p.s. Hmmm . . . I don't recall anyone suggesting this one!! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 May 2000 20:37:11 -0400 From: "Brandt Barretto" Subject: RE: [RS] List t-shirt ideas Hey, I have to put in one more vote for the guit-box players on the list... In DADGAD We Trust on the front with St. Agnes Prison Choir Tour with dates on the the back...and not just pentitentiaries but towns where us listers are from. I'll leave it to more creative folks to tie the two together a litle more thematically. Make sure it comes in XXL! Brandt (in Franklinton, NC looking for the guitar tuned to DADGAD...ahhh, there it is!) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 May 2000 20:51:10 EDT From: GreenGourd@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] List t-shirt ideas Is there room for one more vote for the "St. Agnes Prison Choir Tour" idea? I particularly like the idea of a inmate number and/or a list of NJ-area prisons on the shirt. I'm not that thrilled with the "In DADGAD We Trust" idea, though. Its use would make me *significantly* less likely to buy and, especially, wear the shirt. I already have enough trouble explaining my "Hey, Doc" shirt to people.
