I play guitar and would love to know if anyone knows of any songbooks available of Richard's music. I would definitely like to learn to play some of his material. Also, if anyone knows if Dar Williams and Lucy Kaplansky have songbooks and where I could find them I would be very grateful for the info. >> Dar has a songbook. This I know. She sells them at her shows and I think Patty R. (the Nields' manager) of Bulletproof sells them. It contains 12 songs and there's a really nice forewword about Dar by Scott Alarik. I don't think either Richard or Lucy has a songbook. I never did get back to the Reunion Hill dream. Thanks for all the comments. I see Nancy's point about people being more guarded in those days-- but that raises the interesting point of why the narrator does reveal her life history. Just who is she talking to? On that note, for a T-shirt idea, how about a single hawk soaring above Reunion Hill.... There are already two "generic" Richard T-shirts out there (the AYHN "pumpkin" one and the Confession one) so if it's gonna be about the list, make it about the list. Drats . . . if it didn't have such negative connotations, the perfect shirt would say: SHINDELL'S LIST RG, who if he DOES have to vote for a shirt, loves the idea of "St. Agnes' Prison Choir" . . . a wonderful inside joke and conversation-starter. And besides, Richard DID say that going forward, it was going to be the name of his band. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 May 2000 01:36:37 EDT From: DBedwell@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] The Kennedys << As entertaining as they were, I wonder how well they would stand up to repeated viewings. >> I have seen them many times. The show holds up fairly well. It really comes down to whether you can get into them or not. They are very conversational, both onstage and off. Very often they will say "hi" to you before you can say it to them. Onstage, they give you a real sense of what the song is about, and why they wrote it. If you don't get into them, the comment that I have heard the most is Pete's guitar work can seem repetitive (when jamming). All in all, very upbeat and very entertaining.
