And do they talk in excruciating detail about *his* songs? something I would dearly love to hear? Anyone besides me wish *Richard* would cover some John Gorka songs? They have a similar quirky sense of humor. Anyone who likes "for kicking over port-o-cans at the 4-H rodeo" ought to enjoy teh lyrics of "promnight in pigtown" which I say (of course) has a deeply sombre side Not to mention the mere thought of Richard singing "Love is Our Cross to Bear" - (plus he could do some good plays on those words) lisa ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 May 2000 23:43:32 -0400 From: Howie Lyhte Subject: Re: [RS] Richard in Ann Arbor -- May 16, 2000 At 01:36 AM 5/17/2000 -0700, Pat wrote: >When they returned for the encore, I requested "Friend Of The Devil" but >he had already decided that it would be "Sing Me Back Home" ("We already >have a winner"). Before Richard's show a few months back in Londonderry, NH, I asked him if he's play "Friend Of The Devil". He said that, frankly, he didn't remember the words, but offered to sing along with me!!! Since there are restraining orders out against me singing in 17 states and three Canadian provinces, I graciously declined. - -Howie - -- Howie Lyhte howie3@ici.net - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I have the heart of a child. I love that song--I've never heard Gorka do it, though, but Ezra from Trout Fishing in America does a sweet cover of it. :-) It always makes me shed a little tear, I'm so cheesy. Up here I guess it must be all done. the Law School is anyway. Vanessa Wills wrote: > > "L. At least this time round nobody was rushing the stage :-) And now on to something completely different: when I asked about Joan Armatrading a while ago, somebody, I think it was Lisa, but I could be wrong, offered taping something for me - well, scattered-brain-Katrin never responded to that (sorry) and for some reason that dropped into my brain right now on this very Thursday morning, so I just wanted to say thanks for the offer but I think I'll just see how much I like the concert first (I'll definitely go, but right now more to see Ani open than Joan Armatrading headlining I have to admit. I think I'm going through an "angry song-phase" :-) ). Alright, off to preparing the class I'm supposed to take over for my professor today. If anybody can find a good reason to bring up the subject of folk music in general and Richard in particular in a class about the European Union, let me know, I'd love to change the agenda :-) Katrin ____________________________________________ we come to pass not to stay all that matters anyway is what will follow you Peter Mulvey (all the way home) ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V2 #73 **********************************
