Were you sitting at the table front and center? If so, I was directly behind you with several friends. Your 2AM time frame rings a bell too. We came up from Lexington and didn't get back home until about 2. That's a tough night for us old folks. I was impressed by Richard's performance Friday night. However I was really hoping he would do Mary M. Then I thought it would be great if he and Lynn did it when he brought her up during the encores. From the harmony they did on two songs, I really thought she could pull it off well. I also had hoped he would do Abuelita. I guess I jealous reading Pat's reviews of the subsequent concerts in Michigan because he did both of these. Guess we'll just have to wait until he comes around again. brian. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, May 13, 2000 3:31 AM Subject: [RS] Friday Night Show > I'm just now home, at 2 in the morning, from my road trip to see Richard in > Newport, KY. Were you one of the groups that got there early and were asking us for a good place to eat? We thought the show was at 8 and ended up being 2 hours early! I was hoping he'd sing several songs that he didn't sing too. :-( I really think it was too short! I think that comes with the shared billing, tho. When I saw Ellis Paul there, the set was much shorter than the Dayton show just a few days before, and I think it was because he was splitting the bill with Catie Curtis. I'm not sure how all of that works, really, but I'd sure rather see a long show by Richard than two short ones with him and another performer. Maybe next time. Although it was not one of us who asked you about a place to eat. One of our party suggested to Richard that he "... should have gotten the model with Driver Presets" when he had to retune his guitar after loaning it to Lynn during the encore. Was a good concert, but I agree with you about the duration. We saw Dougie MacLean there last fall and he played longer as there was no double bill. That would have been ok with me, but Lynn was good. I had not heard her before. Talk to you soon. brian. ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V2 #69 **********************************
