Somehow my head things blues and guitar. Is that right? Joan Armatrading is (in my opinion) FABULOUS -- I bought her first album in 1978 I think but I belive I'eve heard more recent stuff. Deep contralto voice; There must be some clips on teh web somewhere. Not that I like *everything* of hers but she is definitely worth listening to. there is one song in particular "weakness in me" that just knocks me out; early hits were "Down to zero" (? I think) and "show some emotion" "love and affection" "Me myself I" -- those are all on a greatest hits CD I have. If you have time I'll tape it and send it to you. I can see her on a bill with Ani too. Then again I don't like Ani much but from what I've heard they ought to fit together. lisa ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 May 2000 19:57:22 -0400 From: Elwestrand Subject: [RS] Joan Armatrading Yes, Joan is a blues rock babe. She is really an original and has been at it a long time. She had a hit in the eighties called, I believe, "I love it when you call me names." She sings straight from the gut and is very powerful in person. Yes, she is worth seeing and alot of women in rock consider her an influence. I would not be surprised if Ani was influenced by her. ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number - Free Free voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 May 2000 10:39:12 +0200 From: Katrin.Uhl@t-online.de (Katrin Uhl) Subject: RE: [RS] so much music Wow, I had completely forgotten about sending that mail, I must have sent that a week before it finally appeared on the list. Very odd. Anyway, thanks for all the info on Joan Armatrading, I will definitely check out that concert I think. Unless the lottery gods are kind and let me win the jackpot and send me to FRFF after all :-) Katrin ____________________________________________ we come to pass not to stay all that matters anyway is what will follow you Peter Mulvey (all the way home) ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V2 #63 **********************************
