I have seen interviews about this song in which Sheryl stated it was about a guy who could do anything, say anything, hurt people or whatever and still get ahead without any consequences for his actions. My impression was that it wasn't about anybody in the music industry, but rather just an acquintance. So, Chris, given the above info, it definitely could be President Bush. I don't visit the forum on a daily basis so appreciate when a link is given with this insight. Has anybody been following the news about the Dixie Chicks? Evidently the Dixie Chicks are touring in Europe now -- there have been many anti-war demonstrations in London the past several weeks. During their concert, Natalie Maines was quoted to say, "we're ashamed that President Bush is from Texas." This statement was broadcasted live on the news here in Kansas City and several radio stations have been having "anti-chick" rallies. One station has even organized a drop off where people can actually throw away their Dixie Chicks CD's. On the news this morning they said that Natalie Maines issued an apology for her statement. That's pretty gutsy of her to sell her BMW SUV and talking about driving a hybrid (no more corvette either?). I think this letter was a heartfelt attempt to clarify her feelings, which the media didn't really give her the chance to do...however in that case I do think she knew exactly what she was getting into when she wore her t-shirts. It makes her seem less anti- Bush than her previous statements have. Good move on her part. ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V6 #43 ********************************
