I just > did, and to be quite honest, I think it's pretty weak as far as quantity > and variety of items go. What do you think? Don't you think > Sheryl fans > deserved a lot more? > > > David I do agree that I wasn't very impressed with the selection, but on the plus side, it's nice that if you did regret not buying a tour shirt or whatever you can get still pick up some tour merchandise. Basically all the store is right now is an outlet to sell the remaining merchandise. Didn't she also at one time have an artist direct site? Although I think they only sold music, plus the singles.I remember a similar site after the Globe Sessions tour. I think that while there was some general complaints about the quality of merch back then, but it was better in my opinion. Also the $19 for a cd, which probably doesn't include shipping is a rip off. In a regular music store it's about that much now...but at a best buy type of place you can get it for less than $15. I'm sure Sheryl gets the same amount of $ per album no matter where you buy it. This isn't actually run by Sheryl's management though...as far as I know music today is just a marketing company. It's "official" because they got a licensing agree ment or something. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 14:21:00 -0400 From: xmystery79@aol.com Subject: [sheryl-crew] Unauthorized Biography Just curious, anyone read the Unauthorized SC biography? Initially I was staying away for a couple of reasons, the first being that it was unauthorized, which meant Sheryl probably didn't approve and she wasn't going to be paid, and the other was that I assumed it would have a slightly negative slant. According to a review from Gregg, the forum moderator, it's not actually a bad book though. The author even replied to some of his comments... visit this link if you want to read for yourself.. http://www.sherylcrow.com/bboard/fanforum/1055832_flat.html So I admit despite my initial impressions, I'm interested in this book...any other reviews? I'm not really looking for people discussing why this book idea sucks, just opinions from those who have read or are going to read it. Although if you strongly feel that this book shouldn't have been written and absolutely won't read it feel free to throw your opinion in as long as you back it up with a couple of reasons and don't just say "This sucks"... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 20:28:44 +0200 From: "Stefan Hollaus" Subject: AW: [sheryl-crew] Unauthorized Biography I got the book a week ago but didn't have enough time yet to finish it. I bought it after reading Gregg's review because first I had the same feelings like you. Just started to read it on Sunday and so far it is very interesting and it gives a great view of the person Sheryl Crow and her carrier. And i must admit i was a bit wary of it as it was unauthorised but to be truthful it was a really good read the author seems to have made a good job of researching from various sources such bill bottrell childhood friends and so on. it is also a good insight in to how hard the music indrusty and ther are some goods observations like the part about the home video were i thik the head of A amd M said it was the best video she has ever done, but everyone else at a@m were pissed coz it was full of ugly people "they spent to long focusing on the girl with really bad teeth". I also thought the whole part about the breakup of the TNMC and the subsequent death of john O'brian and kevin Gilbert was handled with maturity and respect and the reader was offered both sides of the story. I mean all know about the fallout of the TNMC but here it is told in depth. There are also good array of Photos so i would defentily suggest buying it. I heard that sheryl gave her permisson to the author to talk to her friends and collegues hope that helps judith _________________________________________________________________ Get faster connections -- switch to MSN Internet Access! http://resourcecenter.msn.com/access/plans/default.asp ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 16:20:29 -0400 From: FadedSign@aol.com Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Unauthorized Biography I am planning on reading it, and Sheryl did allow her friends and family to be interviewed. The book claims that Sheryl manipulated her way to the top in a man-driven world. It doesnt say that it is a bad thing, but it says that she did it in a smart way. Her many collabarations help prove the point. No doubt Sheryl is talented, but she did things her way to meet career goals. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 20:04:39 -0400 From: "Dave Crow" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Unauthorized Biography Thanks for the review. have been out of touch for a while and am greatful for the input on this.
