Here's some thoughts I had from Tuesday night's concert. Sheryl hadn't been to Cleveland in 5 years (3 if you count lilith fair), so I really wasn't sure what to expect from the crowd. The Ampitheater reminded me a lot of Pittsburgh IC light...just a simple ampitheater with a large tent over it, and this time there were seats. I had decent ones, Row F (about 6 rows back) but they were unfortunately to the far right and some of the video screen was blocked, still we were close so it was pretty cool. Section 2 looked like the place to be and I was a little jealous of those people... Some people complained about not being able to see from the back and feeling disconnected, but that's the kind of feeling you get from almost any venue where you are unfortunate enough to get stuck back there, and believe me it's happened many times to me. So I had no real complaints w/ the venue itself...there was a nice view. It was a little muggy but otherwise a good night for a show. Later on there was a slight breeze that felt good. Michelle Branch came on a little after 8. She was good...to tell you the truth I don't know much of her music, but she was a good performer and the crowd seemed to like her. We waited for Sheryl to come out for about half hour after that and when we did the place just came alive. Everyone was on their feet the second the lights went out. I swiped this set list from the main site: STEVE MC QUEEN WINDING ROAD FAVORITE MISTAKE C'MON C'MON ORIGINAL VEGAS STRONG ENOUGH HAPPY HOME IT'S ONLY LOVE LUCKY KID CHANGE WEATHER CHANNEL ALL I WANNA DO SOAK UP THE SUN NEIGHBORHOOD **************************************** SAFE & SOUND ROCK AND ROLL CLEVELAND, OH SEP 10 My personal favorite was IMYH, but the whole set was just awesome. The finale with Rock & Roll was a close second...atually that might have been my favorite just for the simple fact that she was dancing like a fiend up there. The energy coming from the band, Sheryl pumped up the crowd. The only song that people sat for was Weather Channel. All of the songs were well recieved, but naturally the singles got the most crowd attention. Sheryl was wearing a jean halter top with these light blue jeans (I think they had a little bit of white in them) with red stripes near the bottom, they were boot cut and I didn't get a chance to look at her shoes though... She was pretty chatty with the crowd. She said at one point during the LLV sing along "Consider this your chance to be on American Idol"...hah. She thanked us for coming saying she knew that it was a difficult time for the country but that we were just goin to have fun. She also said the band had a great time in the city that day and they went motorcrossing at XTM. She also was sporting a bandage below her left elbow she said that was a result of the mortorbikes. Don't worry, she was fine though...and it didn't affect her playing one bit. She also quipped after talking about how much fun she had in the city "I see why you guys live here"...That's Sheryl for you, charming the crowd. After the encore she was like "Thanks Cleveland, we love you" and that was that. Great show. Next show is Cinncinatti tommorow. I hope they post a tour diary so we know what they did on the days off. ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V5 #189 *********************************
