Anyway, Pittsburgh rocked. She did Home (instead of TDK I gather)...and the usual stuff, the hits from the other albums (EDIAWR, IMYH, Leaving Las Vegas, All I Wanna Do, Strong Enough) and C'mon, C'mon, Lucky Kid, You're an Original, There Goes the Neighborhood, she opened w/ Steve Mcqueen. Encore was Safe & Sound (nice) and Rock & Roll. The piano dancing was funny. Since I really wasn't paying attention to setlists posted before (on purpose), it was a surprise. I might have missed something in there, the forum has a setlist posted (www.sherylcrow.com/bboard/fanforum), look at the Pittsburgh threads, or any of the shows that happened recently for that matter. Someone has posted pics of Detroit. The whole show was great (well, I wasn't really into remy shand), but O.A.R was really good, Train was entertaining and Sheryl was the perfect ending. The whole crowd was really into her...she was wearing purple pants & the gold strappy top. I wasn't paying attention to her shoes though, sorry. Anyway, if you're going to a show, post a review, or just a couple of thoughts...I had a great time and it might have been the best performance of hers I've seen, although she was great every time I saw her and each time was unique. Also I found myself missing some of the songs that were dropped like Hard to Make a Stand, and Difficult Kind, and maybe some of the other songs on C'mon, C'mon. Still the show was excellent. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2002 13:48:25 -0400 From: "Brigitte " Subject: [sheryl-crew] Pre-show review Chicago show August 11th hey there, Although we got back real early -was only 11pm- I was too tired and busy to immediately post the setlist and write the review of the show but here it is. My friend Jean (actually a Tom Petty fan) and I arrived at Tinley Park around 4pm. We got there early because we had a pair of spare tickets we needed to sell. Which turned out to be not that easy. Recordstores and radiostation had been giving out vouchers for lawntickets of 5 bucks all over the city. So most people who would be looking for tickets got those cheaper ones in stead. Right as we are standing there with the tickets in hand, we see two scalpers getting caught by security. A guy in a black leather vest and a black baseball hat and grey hair. His blond wife (I think) sporting a baseball hat also looked real pissed when she threw the carkeys back at her husband (she didn't get caught). There goes your shopping money honey! I unfortunately spotted these people after the show also, more about that further on. We were directed to the side by security also when we told them we were trying to get rid of the tickets for less then face. So we stood by the Jeep in front of the entrance. I thought it was very funny that they let everyone who owned a Jeep park in the same row. So when you walked to the venue you could see about hundred Jeep's lined up side by side... Just as we thought of giving the tickets away for nothing cause we were standing there for almost an hour, some guys came up to us and wanted to buy them for 25 bucks. We did that. Then I saw a guy with a Sheryl Crow t-shirt on and carrying two big bags coming out of the venue. Wait, I thought, that can't be right. Sheryl Crow still has to play, how can he leave the venue and get back in? So I walked up to him and asked if they were selling merchandise or something inside. He noticed my Sheryl forumshirt which was hanging over my bag cause it was too hot to put on. (and yes I was wearing something else!) I showed him that it was signed. "Where did you get that? Just now?", he asked. "No I got it in Holland", was my answer. "Are you Brigitte?", he asked. I nodded. "I'm Dave!". It was DaveP who I had seen on pictures but had never met yet. He looked familiar to me but he was more tanned then I had seen on the pictures..lol We had a big laugh about that. Ok time to go inside the venue. I easily got my camera in. I had it in the back department of my purse stuffed with some "female material" and they looked into the bag itself, asked if there was a camera in there. "No". And I could walk through! O.A.R. was playing. They let everyone from the back section come up to fill up the front seats some what. They got a good response from the crowd. Lots of loud guys and girls singing. I didn't have earplugs with me, but if I would have them I would have plugged them in for those loud guys instead of the music...lol. During the break we ran into a real nasty security kid. We had seen him before at the Tom Petty concert last year in Tinley. This guy is just going on a powertrip. He asked for our tickets, cause off course they had to get everybody back to their own seats after O.A.R finished. But everyone was gone already. Jean was actually sitting 3 rows behind me but now we were just sitting there together in Row E. He told her that she had to go back if someone needed the seat. Yeah, sure we can read. But is she bothering anybody now? No one is playing, half of the venue is empty! Then I spotted Tom (tav2367). Also funny how that happened. I was just about to walk over to section 103 where he was, and looked in that direction and saw a guy with black baseball hat on. I knew he was going to wear that and at the same time he was looking at me so we pointed and waved to eachother. Then I met Katie (WindingRoad) with her signed forum shirt (Good for you Katie!!) , waved at Aimee (Negative36) cause I was afraid to go up to the front center because of this crazy securityguy. Tom said Rockin' Mom (Peggy) was also there, but again she was in the first few rows. Sorry I didn't meet you! We left for the bathroom and thought Silvercrush was on next and then Train. While we were wondering around the stands, Colleen, other friend that was with me, said that was a Train song that they were playing. We had looked at the schedule one of the security guys showed us and it said that Silvercrush would be on the main stage after O.A.R. but apparently that wasn't the case. So we rushed back to the pavillion and enjoyed a bit of Train. It was good and nice, but I was waiting for Sheryl. Part 2: the review of the concert will follow next. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2002 14:24:03 -0400 From: "Brigitte " Subject: [sheryl-crew] Concert review Chicago August 11th I thought I saw Sheryl standing on the right side of the stage listening to Train. And there was a guy in a white shirt dancing behind her (if that was her). Jim was wearing a white shirt so that could be him. There were still alot of empty seats when Sheryl came out. Was that AC/DC that they were playing? She started out with Steve McQueen and they added some motor engine sounds really cool! Because of those many empty seats I thought about moving to a better spot. I was all the way to the left and because they put the big amps just off the middle of the stage, you can't really see well. When I would stand straight I would look up to the guitars on the left. So as soon as some people got into my row to get to their seats at the right and the powersecurity guy wasn't looking, I waved bye bye to my friends and followed them. I ended up 2 rows behind my original seat, but all the way to the isle!!! The seat was empty for the first few songs. Then a girl came in the row and I asked if it was her seat. I asked her if I could stand behind her (she was a head shorter then me) and she said sure. I don't know who you were, but THANK YOU!!! I would have asked for your e-mail so I could send you some pictures but you were gone before the end of the show, why? So there I was, surrounded by alot of big fans, singin along with all the songs. Particulary one Peter Stround fan! You were going nuts dude. Happy for you that Peter noticed you playing airguitar! Peter looked really good with his hair longer. Tim got a haircut and was wearing a short sleeve shirt. He has muscles Bean! I really liked the visuals for the show. This was my first American show for Sheryl, so I had no idea what to expect. But it was awesome! Here's the setlist: - - Steve McQueen - - EDIWR - - MFM - - C'mon C'mon - - You're an Original - - Leaving Las Vegas ------> did some lines from The Joker - - Strong Enough (everybody sat down!) - - If It Makes You Happy - - Lucky Kid (nice artsy Roy Lichtenstein style visuals for that one!) - - A Change -----> turned into a song from the Who don't know which one sorry - - Difficult Kind (was surpised to hear this one. Thought she had removed it from the setlist because Matt and Lorenza weren't with her, but it still sounded good! I Don't know if it was during this song that Peter laid his head into Sheryl's neck, looked real cute!) - - All I Wanna Do - - Soak Up The Sun (lots of hands in the air!) - - There Goes The Neighboorhood (Sheryl: "Get a picture, take a camera..... ohoh (laughs) " She picked it up again with "while the police dusts the mother's plastic flowers, but she screwed up that line too, Peter and Tim were having a blast about it..lol) Encore: Sheryl running in on bare feet. (no she wasn't wearing shoes Dave) - - Safe and Sound on the piano. During the end the lights were turned on less and Tim and Peter stood by the piano and Sheryl played on, magically moment!) My film was full, I totally forgot about the piano dance! Hopefully I will get a picture of that next time. It looked like Sheryl was kinda looking like: "how am I going to get on top of that piano" but she got up there. - - Rock & Roll (Led Zeppelin cover) Jim doing a great drum solo. Sheryl dancing on the piano and jumping off it at the end!!! AMAZING! Then it was over. I tried to get a setlist but the security kept saying we had to go. Dave got something from the stage and I asked what it was. It were part of the guitarchords and the lyrics for Safe and Sound. He gave them to me. THANKS DAVE! And there were those 2 scalpers again. The guy was holding a drumstick (don't know if it was Jim's or not) and there were going by the isles pointing out spots where guitarpicks (might) had been thrown. Don't know if they found any. I bet if they did, they are selling them on e- bay. Why would you scalp tickets if you were a big fan? We got home around 11pm. Not bad at all. I will try to see if I can have pics developed here and scan them in. Otherwise I will do it when I'm back home in Europe. I will post more reviews of the shows I'm going to when I can. Don't know if I can find internetaccess on the road though.
