It seems weird to refer to myself as an old timer, only being 21 (22 this saturday!) but I do feel old when it comes to this list. when i was 15 or whatever, Seryl and the lsit was the most important thing ever. My life revolved around Sheryl Crow (this of course is an exaggeration, but not much). My miney was for al the rarest cd;s I could find (pre MP3's & napster and good recorders and burners and e-bay) and I went to every single concert within a 5 state radius. I taped every single clip on tv that could have mentioned her name. I had trading connections all over the country for Sheryl stuff and because she was smaller she was easier to relate to, One could see her at a tiny venue and talk to her afterwards or hang out with her band. I guess my transition came along with college. I learned a lot more of what was important and worth spending time and money on, or just had lack of funds to do what i used to. As sheryl has become more and more of a "rock star", it's been harder to relate. I used to think that she was mine (not literally) but someone only I and a handful of others knew about and it was something sacred and very cool and personal. Now she's a rockstar and hangs out with hollywood and has had sugery and is going through some midlife crises trying to regain her youth. I guess I sound a bit bitter, but things are more detatched for me, for someone who got so emotionally attatched. i still LOVE her music and think the new album is the most amazing this she's done....with the exception on Soak Up The Sun, in fact I think that is theeee worst sonfg of hers and the fact that she put it out, she should be asham,ed of herslef it is so generic and cheesy... but she still is amazing. She is awesome live and seems to be a great person. But I know that she is a bit of a bitch, but she is also human and also got sucked into stardome. She's an original. uh huh. Anyway, it's been weird and hard to remove my old admiration for Sheryl the woman to just sheryl the rock star. But I don't go crazy when I can't get a magazine that had an old picture in it and I don't spend my savings on every front row concert ticket. I still get warm and fuzzy to hear or see something new, but along with not spending so much of my time on basically meaningless sheryl stuff, I have spent less time posting. I just can't get into the list like i used to. I can't get excited and post when i see her name mentioned in rolling stone. i wish I could, but now have a house and a career and a relationship and life to worry about. hmmm I went off on a bit of a pointless, no one cares tangent. so sorry but i'm explaining my reasons for not posting. Hopwever I am still hear after years & years & years and do enjoy hearing what is new and what to look out for and reviews. Although i don't post, i love to hear posts, but i feel so out of it now. we all used to know each other back in the day, and now I only know a few of the people who posts, and I doubt anyone even remembers me. It';s cool though Everyone keep up the good work, and I'm not bitter, I love that so many people love sheryl now. it just has changed for me personally. Also... since i do not go into the fan forum, therefore miss all that is posted on there, is it possible for people to post updates from that onto this list?!?!? I'm sure it is basically the same people who post both....isn't it? again sorry for my lenghty thoughts. i still love you all!!! rachelle << Chris wrote: And to all of you sherylcrew old timers out there (I know who you are), get off your butts and say sumpthin' ;) Ohk, I'll probably be hated for what I have to say, compared to everyone else's excuses. I've been on this list since late 1998. As for not posting, yeah, I've been busy, but my main excuse is because I hardly listen to Sheryl anymore and dread hearing anything new from her for some reason. Each time I get an email from pollstar about updates, I always thank goodness she's not coming to Florida! Am I that terrible or what? Guess I've changed a lot since then. To give you an example, I bought the newest album second-hand and haven't listened to it yet. I absolutely hate that song, Soak up the Sun. I hear it at work all the time, it's probably all I ever need to hear in order to hear the whole album. Yeah, happy me. I don't get why just about everyone hates it, either. :( ~Tilly When you're sleeping you're ceramic; you're surrounded by little stars. I remember reading something somewhere about how some folks in the UK will take the first few letters or first syllable of a name and then add the *zza* as a sign of affection.
