Source: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/rolls/20020201/en/reed_crow_on_new_show_1.html Reed, Crow on New Show Bravo's new weekly series Musicians, featuring artists such as Lou Reed and Sheryl Crow talking about the craft and techniques of their work, debuts Monday, February 4th. Although similar to Bravo's series Inside the Actors Studio, on Musicians, hosted by longtime Rolling Stone contributor David Wild, the artists can also perform their work. A highlight of the premiere is Lou Reed actually smiling as he demonstrates how his "Vicious" is just the Velvet Underground's "Sweet Jane" played backward. Later episodes will feature performers ranging from Alanis Morissette to Tony Bennett. "We're trying to get people to show and tell," Wild says. "We got some great performances, but when someone opens up about how they do what they do, that's what we don't usually get to hear." The show, Wild says, goes beyond the usual gossip: "It's more about the process than who they slept with -- but sometimes that comes up too." TOM NAWROCKI (February 1, 2002) Other news: Springsteen, Dylan & Others To Take Part In Johnny Cash Tribute Album (2/1/02, 3 p.m. ET) -- Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Little Richard, and others have teamed up for a tribute album to Johnny Cash, which is slated for release on May 28. The currently untitled project is being coordinated by country musician Marty Stuart, who's also Cash's former son-in-law, in conjunction with this year's celebration of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer's 70th birthday. So far, Springsteen has signed on to do "Give My Love To Rose," Dylan is covering "Train Of Love," and Little Richard is doing "Get Rhythm." Also committed to the project is the trio of Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow, and Mary Chapin Carpenter ("Flesh And Blood"), as well as Dwight Yoakam ("Understand Your Man"), Keb' Mo' ("Folsom Prison Blues"), and Travis Tritt ("I Walk The Line"). I told you guys then that the show of the Shine Club gig Sheryl did last year, that was treed out there would be continued here on the list. I have kept this promise and you can now get this show on cd if you want. I'm not sure though which show to weed out though, the April 30th show where Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards and Stevie Nicks joined Sheryl on stage or the May 29th show that she did at the Shine Club also. So here's how I'm going to do it. Mail me at lois-lane@zonnet.nl with the subject line: Shine weed. In there tell me where you live and which show you would like to have. (the show with the most votes will be weeded out). If you already have one of the shows, please write that in there as well. The way you will get this show is through a B&P, which stands for blanks and postage. You will send me (or one of the other people who will be helping me) 2 blanks and enough postage (or cash) to return the cd's to you.
