I think Ryan's very talented, but some of those songs were SO sad, they could make one suicidal! I'm not sure if Shelby was trying to outdo Sheryl at last year's Grammies or if that just happened. Shelby was just dressed so sexy (or sleazy, depending on your point of view), and Sheryl was more conservative. And Sheryl was stuck holding that guitar. I wonder if the two of them get along? No offense to the guys in the band, but Sheryl's hair is a far more interesting topic than they are!! Just kidding! :-) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. Found it on the forum... Can't believe I overlooked it in the bookstore. And man I can't wait till the new album!! B~* THIS MONTH: Sheryl Crow EXPECTED: January 2002 (Subject to celebrity cameos) "I started out using the studio in my house" Explains Sheryl Crow, who began recording her new album - provisionally titled Songs from the waiting room - two years ago. "I worked for a little while and then I decided I didnt want to work. Recording at home was too good, but I think it was one of the reasons I quit as it was like having a person standing over me saying, you need to be working". Resuming after an extended break in February, this time at Avatar Studios, New York and Sunset recorders, Los Angeles, Crow, whod aimed at making a, "Real rocknroll record reminiscent of the late 70s summers", found the lay-off took on a reflective aspect. "Things have changed here with our loss of innocence and freedom", she says of 11 September and related events. "Its hard to write about. I started this record with a song about a lack of heroes in this country, then I went back and rewrote it, feeling like that cant said anymore". Guests on the album include Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, and, possibly, actress Gwyneth Paltrow. "Shes a really good friend", says Crow. "She sang on something which we had to re-cut, but she might come in again". Crow has even been recording with Keith Richards at his Connecticut mansion. "His house is beautiful", says Crow. "Its a real homey place. Keith has got kids and hes a cool Dad, but then theres the other side of him - like a pirate, full of stories, just a blast to be around". ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 21:54:35 +0000 From: "Amanda D" Subject: [sheryl-crew] Shelby Outdoes Sheryl??? I didn't think Shelby out did Sheryl at all. I thought she was trying to but personally I thought that kind of made her look tacky. When Sheryl performs with other artists be it legends, people who are at about her status, and even those beneath her she NEVER tries to out do them. That is one of the best things about her, she is so cool in that way. I thought Shelby did a great job and she is very talented but on the Grammies I thought she kind of made herself look really bad. Just my opinion. Cheers Amanda =) _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 17:30:45 EST From: XMystery79@aol.com Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Shelby Outdoes Sheryl??? When Sheryl > performs with other artists be it legends, people who are at about her > status, and even those beneath her she NEVER tries to out do them I don't think Shelby has a very soft voice, while Sheryl's voice I think is good for duets and harmonies and stuff because it blends well. Who knows what Shelby's motive or reason was? Most people knew it was a Sheryl Crow song, except for some idiot from E! Online who said Sheryl was trying to steal the spotlight by singing Shelby's song...I just had to laugh at that. ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V4 #309 *********************************
