I think she's let it grow way too long. It looks kinda draggy in the Gap commercial (which I FINALLY saw on Thursday!). I remember when she cut it, all the guys on the list said she should let it grow back...what is it with guys and long hair, anyway? :-) Has anyone heard the the new Shelby Lynne album? I listened to part of it at Border's, but can't decide whether to buy it or not. It seems similar to her last cd, and I've already got that. Thanks, Brigitte, for all your great posts. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 Dec 2001 21:30:11 -0500 (EST) From: MisterSmiley69@webtv.net (mister smiley) Subject: [sheryl-crew] Re: Sheryl on new Beatles tribute album Sheryl is the only good person on the CD. Damn Eddie Vedder that washed up whiny bitch. Rufus Wainwright's version of the John Lennon-Paul McCartney song ``Across the Universe44 has been selected as the first single from the all-Beatles-songs soundtrack to New Line4s ``I Am Sam.44 The soundtrack is scheduled for release Jan. 8 by Richard Branson4s V2; the film will have an Oscar-qualifying run in L.A. beginning Dec. 28. ``Radio in different cities is already playing the entire record,44 said V2 president Andy Gershon. ``In New York, four different stations are playing Eddie Vedder4s 4You4ve Got to Hide Your Love Away.4 In Boston almost every track has been played on the radio.44 The ``I Am Sam44 disc will include 17 cover versions of Beatles tunes, among them the Wallflowers doing ``I4m Looking Through You,44 Sheryl Crow singing ``Mother Nature4s Son44 and Ben Folds performing ``Golden Slumbers.44 Although covers of Beatles tunes have appeared in films -- Elliott Smith sang ``Because44 in DreamWorks4 ``American Beauty44 and Fiona Apple warbled ``Across the Universe44 for New Line4s ``Pleasantville44 -- this marks one of the most ambitious soundtrack projects in recent years. ``I don4t think music determines whether a film grosses $20 million or $30 million, but this music complements the emotions of the movie. The soundtrack4s success depends to a degree on the success of the film, but it still has to be a great record,44 Gershon said. Gershon, who agreed to be involved with the soundtrack only after seeing the film, said he hopes Ben Harper's ``Strawberry Fields Forever44 will be the second single. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Dec 2001 19:46:44 -0800 From: LeeAnne Miller Subject: [sheryl-crew] OT: Shelby Lynne I absolutely love Shelby Lynne and bought her new cd the day it was released. At first listen I didn't think I liked it as much as "I Am..." (which is on my list of desert island discs along with Sheryl's self titled and Patty Griffin's Flaming Red) but it has grown on me tremendously. I think I am more drawn to Bill Bottrell's production of "I Am..." than Glen Ballard's on this new one. Regardless of production, she has an amazing voice AND an amazing stage presence. I was lucky enough to be 2nd row when she came through my town (Portland, OR) last weekend and I was so very blown away.
