I wrote to Lorenza Ponce shortly after the Tribute to Heroes telethon last Friday. She was a performer, of course, with Jon Bon Jovi, and did a very nice job on his song. I asked her what it was like being at the show. This is what she said: "It was a great privilege and a great surprise to be asked to play. As you can imagine it has been a very tough 2 weeks to be a New Yorker. We have all wanted to do something to help but there have been so many volunteers that it is almost impossible to really get to do anything. I was praying that I would be asked to play on a benefit. There have been several in the city but they mainly used choirs, so I didn't have much hope. You can imagine how grateful I was to finally get to contribute. People have asked me if it was fun. Fun is a word that does not apply right now. It was a sober, respectful, and heartfelt experience. There was none of the schmoozing that you normally see at a star-studded event. There were no stars that night, just some influential people that were trying to do a good thing and raise much needed money for the families of the innocent victims of this horrible tragedy. I consider it a life experience, where we all came together as a nation and propped each other up and said,'We will get past this!' All the musical performances projected this mindset, and I thought they were all magnificent! I am very proud to have been a part of it, but I pray that we never have occasion to do it again. That's what it was like..." Thought you'd like to see this. Gregg. ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V4 #251 *********************************
