I'm happy to hear that Liz from the forum is ok, and apparently everyone else who we know lives in NY and a good friend of mine from New Jersey. I'm waiting to hear from one other person and praying that they're all right and feeling sad for the victims. Gregg reported on the forum that Sheryl was in Nashville so don't worry about her. Not only New York, Washington and Pittsburgh were fearful but the whole country is on a state of high alert, no flights at all until tommorow at noon, all government buildings are closed, a lot of colleges. This action goes to show that hate is alive in the world, with people from certain countries celebrating the deaths of innocent people. I can't fathom being happy about that, except to say it must come from hatred and ignorance. I think that good will overcome evil and that the amount of people doing whatever they can to help proves that. I'm praying that these terrorist attacks stop and that people realize this kind of action is not the answer. I hope every one of you on this list is safe and that your families and friends as well. I'm really scared, Idon't know what the intentions of these people are, but let me tell that they are really professionals, and really nuts. I just want everyone in the US to know that your neighbors to the north are thinking of you as well. We were treated basically as the US were, all airports shut down, international flights were re-routed to Pearson in Toronto, schools and businesses were shut down. Buildings were evacuated. I was so upset today at work, we were all watching on TV from minutes after the first plane crash. I bawled my eyes out for Liz, I was in disbelief of the severity of the whole situation until the building crumbled, I was sure she was dead (sorry Liz). I'm so thankful everyone is safe and I'm so very very sorry to all the people who lost loved ones and friends, it's so terribly tragic. I hear a lot of victims, particularly burn victims are being sent to Canada for treatment , we're sending down a few hundred firemen and emergency crew and we're being asked to donate blood as well. I hope we are doing as much as we can to help with search and recovery efforts and to help care for those injured. This is a good time to sit back and realize how precious life is and how easily it can be taken away, live each day the best you possibly can. I think this was one of the main reasons I was so upset today, life can be taken so suddenly, and so tragically. Most people have the perception that New Yorkers are rude and insensitive and what I've seen here today totally disproves that. Strangers helping strangers, people opening their home to those who couldn't get home, people opening their restaurants and "giving" their food away to those involved, etc.... Even though this doesn't "erase" in my mind (i'm sure nothing ever will) what happened here today, it at least reassures me that MOST people are good. Take care XMystery79@aol.com wrote: > In a message dated 9/11/01 4:07:20 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > coltrane-gb@cableinet.co.uk writes: > > > > > My prayers and thoughts are for all Sheryl's fans in the U.S. their > > relatives and all Americans who may have lost someone special in this > > outrageous act of violence toward innocent people. I myself am awaiting notice from friends and family, as I am from NJ/NY. I just live in MD now. Still hit me here, over in DC. THis whole thing has shaken us all, and in many ways. I hope that as a nation we will come out strong and pull through, together--and not let this be the fall. The NY's are pulling together as we speak, and the nation itself is showing tremendous support, as are other countries. This was a horrible tragedy, and im sorry, truly sorry if anyone has experienced a loss...I know i myself already have, and i just pray i loose no more loved ones. take care everyone, and dont forget to tell everyone tonight, that you love them, seriously. - -Aimee ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Sep 2001 03:33:03 +0000 From: "Amanda D" Subject: [sheryl-crew] Prayers and Condolences I want to send my prayers and condolences to all who may have experienced this tragedy either directly or indirectly. The only good thing about this day is the way the country and other countries (i.e. Canada, Britain) are pulling together to grieve, cope, and try to move on. I turned on the TV this morning and was in a state of shock, tears streamed from my eyes on countless occasions today. One being now, as the news just reported that there are 800+ casualties at the Pentagon alone. May everyone rest in peace.
