["~* Makinzy *~" ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2001 22:23:07 +0100 From: "Coltrane-gb" Subject: [sheryl-crew] Opinions & Albums I haven't posted for a while, but I have to say this, while debate is a good thing, criticism works as a tool to start a discussion off, it is also painful to die hard fans. True, there is bound to be a mix of "full on" Sheryl fans, like Dave P, & I agree with him, everything Sheryl has recorded ...I like, and that the truth, so to say the "must be a song you can't stand", is judgemental and offensive, to some. To say Sheryl should stick with the formula of the first 2 albums is rubbish. It's the ability to write/perform different styles, that keeps an artist both interested in her work, and interesting to the fan. Talented, gifted people such as Sheryl can't stand still.....and will always seek out others with a similar gift to work with and share ideas......it's been the same for years, not only in music either. Conclusion, simple, if Sheryl has you hooked, you're in tune with her talent, and won't give a damn who she works, sleeps, eats, writes or is seen with. You just want another album ..like yesterday. If you don't like one or 2 tracks on an album, you may be a fan, but keep looking for the artist who can grab you with every song, piece of work, word and keep you begging for more, Sheryl does this for me, I "like" 1 or 2 songs by other artists, so I'm a fan of sorts...therefore I don't join their lists and criticise. Everyone has opinions and their right to them, but equally, everyone you speak to, in whatever way deserves respect. Sorry to go on, but I can't believe some of what I've read here lately. That and Too Far From Texas (w/ Natalie Maines) are my two favorite songs. :o) I can't put into words how much I adore this album. Christina >3) How does Sheryl sound on Stevies album? Just like was stated in a couple >posts it is still Sheryl on lead VOCALS so I know her new >album will be worth the wait! > >Sheryl figures REALLY prominently on "Sorcerer" and "Candlebright" (you can >CLEARLY hear her backing vocals on those songs), though her backing vocals >on "Fall From Grace" are more noticeable on the Blockbuster version than >they are on the record. My roommate is not a very big Stevie fan, but he >*really* likes "Fall From Grace" and he said HE thought Sheryl's backing >vocals were better on the live version. He also said the record company >should release the live version of "Fall From Grace" as a single... he said >he thought it could sell AND he thought it could be a hit. Hey, Stevie and >Sheryl TOTALLY brought the house down at the awards with a performance that >I watch over and over again... I've got Bruce Springsteen's concert, the >entire Blockbuster Awards, and Stevie Nicks's appearance on the Chris Isaak >show on the tape, and the point I play over and over again is "Fall From >Grace!" > >Sorry for the tangent, but I just wanted to let you know how noticeable >Sheryl is on the songs she was part of on Trouble in Shangri-la. The songs >carry a Sheryl feel to them AND they really capture Stevie well. Hey Crew!!!!! I'd just like to say that this past couple weeks is greatest/most interesting time that the sheryl-crew has ever (well since I've been apart of it) been. I love all the debates (some would say fighting and gossiping... but no) and stuff. It's very entertaining and I love to see everyone's different opinions. Well, just thought I'd like to let you all know how I feel. - -MAKINZY- SHERYL CROW ROCKS!!! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Apr 2001 00:11:55 -0400 From: "Brooke J."
