I hear it sucks!" ~ Sheryl Crow, Detroit City, May '99 Sheryl Crow's Neighborhood ~ http://www.sherylcrow.fr.fm ICQ #103438744 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 09:06:14 -0400 From: Richard Boyd Subject: [sheryl-crew] Kid Rock??? Talented??? Hay, Crew!!! As we say in the south (Virginia USA), here's my two cents worth. If Sheryl sees both musical and personal possibilities with Kid Rock, then he is going to be a better man for the exposure to a musician and person of her caliber. Professionally, she needs to keep her sound moving forward, and not just make the same sounding records over and over. If she can incorporate a bit of the techno or DJ sound to hook in a new audience, then she will continue to have a big following. But what ever she does, my bet is that it will ultimately be first and foremost a musical, tuneful, creative and original album. Your faith in her music sense will be rewarded in her next effort. Her musical roots will not let her drift too far afield. Concerning her personal involvement with Kid Rock, it sounds to me like she is big time heavy into her new album now, and having a great time with her friends. If it goes beyond that, we'll just have to watch it unfold. But what if it's just a shrewd move to interest a bunch of new fans in Sheryl's new album? I think they both can learn from each other a great deal. Kinda liek the Moby/Stefani or Eve/Stefani or Santana/Rob Thomas collaborations recently-- totally cool -- 2 totally different musicians coming together to make a kick ass track. They have happened all thru history. And I have faith that Sheryl will NEVER stray too far from her roots. She is the MOST talented one by far and I think that we can totally trust her to make an incredible album -- so to those of you who are saying that you aren't gonna buy this record b/c of the GUESTS on it -- Are you really TRUE fans? I mean have some faith in her! I am totally for change and PLAYING with new things -- it keeps life interesting and it NEVER lets you get "stuck in the rut." You have to ALWAYS keep up with the new things that are going on and in order to keep "up with the times" you have to embrace those things and if they don't work for you the OK. I mean AT LEAST Kid Rock writes his own stuff. That is more that I can say for Brittany or In Sync! I mean guys it could be MUCh worse -- Sheryl and Backsterrt Boys or InSync! LOL OK -- to wrap up -- everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I tend to be more open minded and try to accept all for what it is. I mean In Sync etc do have their place as does Kid and Sheryl. Let's keep an open mind on this and give her a chance -- i do think that she knows what she is doing. At a Grammy party with Bono and Shelby Lynne and at a party at Stevie Nicks' house. And they mention that Sheryl uses a bronze Calvin Klein blush on the "Goods" page. (So if I buy that blush, will I look just like her? :) Just kidding!) There are pix of Kid Rock at the Grammys too...I wonder if that's where it all started!! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 16:07:21 -0400 From: "Christina Clark" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Kid Rock and Gwyneth Paltrow on Sheryl's album All this talk about Gwyneth is making me crazy, I think she has an exceptional voice, it's very very pretty. So stop it, she's going to be doing some back-up I'm sure, it's not going to be a huge role she'll be playing in the album, I'm sure. So please, everyone, give it up. I'm just as excited as always. It's really starting to pi$$ me off. People, grow up. I'm ashamed. If you hate them (Kid, Gwenyth) so much, by all means, don't buy Sheryl's new album and stop coming to the forum, because you're not a fan. It really is appalling. Can we just drop it? Christina TOTALLY -- i agree with you! This is crap -- people NEVER can be happy and openminded eh? I was getting blasted with personal mails for the Kid Rock comments I made so I am glad that someone else is on my side! I think her collaborating with BOTH is awesome! Change can be good and by having it in your life you never get BORED or stuck in a rut so to speak! But I am with you all the way. :) Ciao Beck ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 17:14:40 -0400 From: "Mike Sarzo" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Kid Rock and Gwyneth Paltrow on Sheryl's album >From: "Christina Clark" > >You were getting blasted with personal emails for the comments??!! > >People, grow up. > >I'm ashamed. I must say I am not a fan of Kid Rock in any way, shape, or form, but if he proves himself to have talent I don't think he has, I'm all for it. Somehow, I think if Kid Rock or Gwenyth didn't have talent, Sheryl would have enough judgment not to put them on her record. That's why we haven't heard the Backdoor Boys or N'SUCK or Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera collaborating with Sheryl. Any word on whether or not Stevie Nicks has some role on Sheryl's new record? And, my take on the vitriol of this discussion: Agree to disagree. Move on. Next topic. Thank you.
