It's kind of weird, but good - it's uterlly compelling. I then had to buy Wait Until Spring Bandini, which is different (It's about Arturo growing up - all about the Italian Amerian Catholic Childhood) but still excellent. New Stuff on the Main Site Hi Guys: I get the digest, so I don't know if everyone already knows this, and if I am repeating people then I'm sorry. BUT, there is a bunch of new stuff at the main website: http://www.sherylcrow.com. Check it out. - -Ryan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Apr 2001 19:52:08 -0000 From: "Heather H" Subject: [sheryl-crew] Gwyneth Paltrow Yes, I read the message about not "judging" Sheryl's friends, but...I cannot STAND Gwyneth Paltrow!!! Her whole career is based on having rich, famous parents and a publicity stunt romance with Brad Pitt. I don't know how she knows Sheryl, but she seems to know anyone and everyone who's famous. She was a bridesmaid at Madonna's wedding and I've read she hangs out with Courtney Love too. Anything to get herself in magazines, I'd guess. I really hope Sheryl will stick with using professional musicians on her albums. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Apr 2001 23:43:01 +0200 From: "B. Beeks (School for Journalism)" Subject: [sheryl-crew] Kid Rock and Gwyneth Paltrow on Sheryl's album Thursday April 19 10:01 PM EDT New Friends for Sheryl CrowSheryl Crow will be joined by Gwyneth Paltrow and Kid Rock on her next album, which is due out late fall. Crow is currently in New York working on the album, which will be her first since last year's Sheryl Crow and Friends: Live in Central Park and her first of new material since 1998's The Globe Sessions. "She just nailed it," Crow says of Paltrow's singing. The two have been friends for years, and Paltrow -- who gained singing experience in her film Duets with Huey Lewis -- joined Crow onstage during an impromptu party at the Cutting Room in New York on April 14th. The two sang several cover songs, including the Who's "Squeeze Box" and Ram Jam's "Black Betty," as well as "It's Only Love," a song Crow co-wrote for Stevie Nicks' upcoming album, Trouble in Shangri-la. "She is a great singer, and an awesome friend," Crow says of Paltrow. Kid Rock, another friend, showed up at Crow's party dressed in a bunny suit and joined her for a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama." She speaks highly of the Detroit rappin' rocker's musical talent: "Every time I am around him I just appreciate him so much more." Although details are still being worked out, he will sing on her album, and she plans to sing on his next one. Other party attendees included actors Luke Wilson, Chris Rock and Chris Noth (so now Sheryl is aquintated (?) with Mr. Big now? woohoo!!) Crow will be making several other spontaneous appearances at different clubs in New York while working on her new album. Those who are lucky enough to catch a performance will be treated to a few new songs, some old hits, and a lot of covers. "I have such an amazing band," she said. "And between all of us we know every cover there is." MIA SULPOR (April 20, 2001 http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/rolls/20010419/en/new_friends_for_sheryl_crow_1.html You know, I personnaly don''t care so much about an artist's personal life. Just like to know a bit background info so I know where the music is originated, therefore I really don't care who Sheryl is dating, just as long as he treats her well and they are both happy. But Kid Rock singing on her album?!! That could be one reason for me to not buy the album... cause I'm really not a fan of his music. I'm curious what kind of twist she will give it to fit it into her music. They probably met cause they were famous, but they didn't become friends because of it. If she were collaborating with credible musicians, that'd be fine. But Kid Rock and Gwyn? Spare me pls. owner-sheryl-cre w@smoe.org To: sheryl-crew@smoe.org @ SMTP cc: 21/04/2001 05:42 Subject: [sheryl-crew] Kid Rock and Gwyneth Paltrow on Sheryl's album But Kid Rock singing on her album?!! He has been around for a LONG time and his recent popularity with the rock/hip hop thing is relatively new. He has several old records that show this talent. He is an awesome DJ and has a knack for arranging a piece. I think it will be an interesting collaboration. Check out some of his older stuff -- it may make you see why she finds him talented as well. and yeah as for the personal life - who cares! LOL :) Ciao Beck ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Apr 2001 00:49:30 -0400 From: "Brooke J." It's a great book, I was so tempted to buy it, and give it to my mom or something...but alas, I didn't feel like spending that much.... ;0) Go check it out!
