We're in the last days of making "Sheryl's Birthday Present" and I wanted to remind everyone one last time that they could still donate. Most of what is in the message below is on the new-improved Sheryl fan forum, and this thread has our longest response yet. Here's what we're doing: In Sheryl's hometown of Kennett, Missouri, there's a small childrens home. The people who work there take care of kids in transition much like many childrens homes do. ''Transition'' can be kids needing adoption, kids taken out of the home because of family trouble, kids that are wards of the courts, all kinds of reasons. You may or may not know of Sheryl's work for this charity - at an antique store in Kennett, Sheryl has donated her used clothing items and old concert T's for sale - and all the proceeds go to this home. So we wanted to help too, and wanted to do this in honor of Sheryl's upcoming birthday on February 11. The address of the home is: Delta Children's Home P.O. Box 573 Kennett, MO 63857 U.S.A. You can donate by cash, check or money order, and if you live in the US or are a US citizen living abroad, this donation is tax deductable (keep your canceled check for tax time). If you do not live in the US, you can donate either of two ways - 1. You can put US paper bills only in an envelope within an envelope and mail it to the home. Be absolutely sure that if you hold the envelopes up to a strong light, you cannot see the money inside. Be sure you note that this is for the Sheryl Birthday Drive. (In English, a ''drive'' is a way to raise money.) I highly recommend that you try to do the donation this way. Most places have U.S. dollars floating around - just ask! 2. If you cannot get US dollar bills, you may send your own paper currency to me and I will get it exchanged for U.S. dollars and send it on to the home. It has to be paper money, no coins, and it has to be put in an envelope similar to the way I described above. You can email me at orialv15@mindspring.com for my regular mailing address. But you need to do this soon. If you donate this way, please donate more than $1 U.S. (the exchange rate service fee will make your donation go to the bank otherwise.) You may also donate through your own bank "BY WIRE" (electronic). Here's what you need: The wire will be to the Delta Childrens Home, Kennett, Missouri, USA through the Kennett National Bank (KNB-MO-USA) with the bank routing number 081500123 and the account number 015334. This is the information you need to give to your bank to make the wire transfer happen. Banks make the conversion from your currency to American dollars along the way. DO NOT send any cards or letters (correspondance) to Sheryl with the donations. Don't expect anything back from Sheryl, ok? AS AN ADDED INCENTIVE TO DONATE, we've added a GRAND PRIZE for donating. For up to $5 that you donate you will get one chance at this prize. (You have to at least donate $1 to get a chance.) After $5, you will get once chance per $5 additional. So if you donate $15 for instance, you will get three chances. The GRAND PRIZE is a high quality glossy press photo of Sheryl and it is signed by her. It is worth quite a bit of money (check eBay if you don't believe me) and some lucky donor will get this at the end. To qualify for the drawing, you should email to Incognito62 (she's agreed to help out) the amount of your donation in US dollars (or I can tell you if you don't know the exchange rate) and she will tell you how many chances you have. All the chances will go into a hat, and on Sheryl's birthday, we will pick a winner. It will be determined at random. So even if you only donate $5 you have a chance at the picture. This is the honor system and you need to write her at sikarin@iwon.com and tell her that you donated, and how much. Whether you send it directly to the home, or through me, it doesn't make any difference. (And even if you don't want a chance at the picture, please let Incognito62 know about your donation so we can keep track of it!) Please take a few minutes and do this - it takes little time. And help us wish Sheryl a Happy Birthday.
