Now Eminem can't say anything bad about her in any of his songs, because she hasn't given him crap. I'm not saying that Sheryl said that to get on Eminem's good side, but it probably helped. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jan 2001 16:51:57 -0000 From: "spinspinsugargirlie" Subject: [sheryl-crew] monkey mind this is just a question I downloaded sometime ago a song called monkeymind by Sheryl and I realised that I don't know anything about it. He likes to be umm somewhat of a jack a$$ in his songs. The good thing about him is he's not afraid to voice his opinion, he may gain fans, and he may loose fans. (I don't really like him) but I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You can download some of his songs on napster to see what he sounds like. "The Real Slim Shady" "forgot about dre" "stan" theres tons more, but that's all I can think of, lol. I just don't happen to agree with them. You can also find it on Mitchell Froom's album called "Dopamine" (which you probably already knew). I have the album, and all of the songs on it are pretty strange. I don't know, I really like "Monkey Mind" a lot and it would be awesome to hear Sheryl do more songs like that (IMHO). I really don't understand the meaning of the song either. As a matter of fact, I don't understand any of the songs on that album. . .lol. . .but they're pretty decent. I read an interview with Froom once, when he admitted that his album was made from extra studio time while producing/mixing acts like Sheryl. He wrote all of the music to his songs, and allowed the artists to put their own ideas into the lyrics and vocal melodies. Monkey Mind, I believe, is a term used for stream of consciousness thinking/writing, which is just unorganized, impulsive thoughts coming out. Very appropriate for the song's lyrics and odd melody. Love the song and how it irks at you for the vocals, and seems so cool for those jazzy guitar breaks. I've tried to buy Dopamine a few times on ebay, but you know how much people suck there... Ya, I don't really like him, but I do like Stan. I think his songs are interesting, his lyrics are very clever, the way they flow. But I try not to listen to the content...you know..to what he's ACTUALLY saying. His songs have a way of getting stuck in your head and just staying there...like "The Real Slim Shady" geeez....it sticks like crazy glue even if you hate it. I was going with my date to The Galaxy Theater here in Hollywood, and who do I happen to ride the elevator with but Sheryl and what appeared to be her entire band. Sadly to say, no Owen. But she looked great, the new blond locks fit her well, but I never realized just how short she was. As we exited the elevator, and she purchased tickets with her bandmates, I stood directly behind her. It's odd, I planned for this day all my life, the day I could finally meet my idle, and I didn't say a thing to her. *laughs* Stupid, stupid, stupid me. Just to have one question answered, but no, I got tongue-tied and just smiled when she glanced at me. As she entered the movie (seeing "Traffic") I told her band member Peter Stroud that I thought they were doing a great job, and completely got dumbfounded by what just happened that I couldn't figure out where to sign on my credit card receipt for the purchase of two movies tickets I had just made. What an incredible night this was.
