(http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/tab.html a lot of tabs you can find there. I really don't see the problem. Cause most tabs aren't very clear for a beginner. For instance there's no strum rhythm, no solo's etc. if a guitarplayer wants that he buys the book. I think you should tell this man the above thing. http://rhythm.harmony-central.com/cgi-bin/olga-query?key=sheryl+crow at this section you can find all the sheryl crow tabs. That were just tabbed out by other guitarplayers. I apologize if this offends anyone, I tried my best to be diplomatic. read on for the letter I wrote: lisa marie Dear Dave, I am writing to you not as a person who has a website containing tabs or MP3's, or any other media that you might feel deprives Sheryl of royalties, but as a loyal Sheryl fan. You may or may not be aware, but there exists a certain "SheryCrew," a mailing list for Sheryl fans where we all exchange tidbits about Sheryl, stories, links to great sites and so on and so on. We are all Sheryl's biggest fans, and we ALL still go out and buy Sheryl's CD's. We buy every single, domestic or import, every video, every magazine we can find Sheryl in. The fact that we share tabs and chord and lyrics seems to me, inconsequential when you look at the big picture. I am not talking about people who just say "Sheryl Crow is pretty cool," and turn up the radio when her songs are on. I am talking about a group of people who went to tremendous lengths to put together a birthday book full of poems, letters, artwork and much more all about Sheryl and for Sheryl. So, I would just like to take this opportunity to remind you, in the wake of the whole Napster ordeal (and we won)! that even if you force all the fans to remove the tabs and chords, and songs and stuff from their websites, we will still be able to trade them by email, and such, and Napster still has lots of Sheryl bootlegs to share. Also, many of the songs we share over the Internet were never made available on any kind of CD or album, so this is the way that we share them. I do not feel, personally, that we are any threat to the royalties that Sheryl might accrue from the sales of licensed items. We are merely a bunch of Sheryl fans, sharing all things Sheryl. I ask you, diplomatically, to please leave us be. we are not causing any harm to anyone, or anyone's checkbook. I'm new to the list. In fact this is my first post. But your letter was so well written I felt compelled to write. You were honest, passionate, and went straight to the point!! I just love a great writer. That's part of the reason I love Sheryl so much!! Anyway, keep doing what your doing!! This list rocks!! We know that we have all Sheryl's cd's , but, as he told you, he is her sheet music publisher and by you having the tabs and lyrics, people do not need to buy her sheet music. You also pointed out about us being huge fans who buy all her stuff, but not so big fans, those who play guitar may stumble across your site and take the tabs instead of buying the sheet music. And one might say "ya, but they wouldn't have bought the sheet music, they wouldn't have even really thought about it if they hadn't stumbled across my site." Well, that is true, but huge companies such as Warner-Chappell don't care. They don't think that because of visiting your site, that person might buy one of her albums or something. And this guy definitely isn't going to care since he strictly deals with sheet music. Maybe you should have just ignored them until they gave you another warning. It will now be difficult for you to ignore since you have responded to them, they know you go the email. You may think an email like that will work, but let me tell you, if this is something that they are trying to crack down on, you are not going to win. Warner-Chappell is one of the largest music publishers in the world, it is a MASSIVE company and will have big-time lawyers. It's really sad that they are doing this, but when a company gets something in their mind, that's it. And the thing that makes me want to listen to them is that publishers do not make very much money off sheet music, the artist (being Sheryl) get's most of it. So it is indeed Sheryl losing out the most. But, there's the big question again..."Is she REALLY losing out?" She may not be being paid in cash, but she's being paid in a kind of promotion of her works. Who knows what the true answer to that question is. Christina P.S "WE" the general public did not win in the Napster debacle. It may, on the surface, appear that we did, but time will soon tell that we, in a way, lost. It's not a widely known fact that Bertellson Music Group (BMG) bought Napster, and as soon as they figure out exactly what the structure is going to be, they are going to start charging a fee for downloads. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Jan 2001 23:19:53 -0500 From: "Christina Clark" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Just an FYI It will now be difficult for you to ignore since you have responded to them, they know you go the email.
