It's pretty old already but they did some remixes lately one by our dutch dj DJ Tiesto. It's pretty cool. My brother loves it (merely because he's a DJ Tiesto fan) and when I heard it from his room, I was so surprised. I thought he was playing one of my cd's first, but it appeared it was one of his. And Dave: Lou Reed used to be in a band called The Velvet Underground in the sixties. Then he went solo. You know the song Perfect Day? That was his. (take a) Walk On The Wild Side, also his. And Sheryl covered one of the Undergrounds songs with the Counting Crows called Pale Blue Eyes, which can be found on Napster. Check it out, it's pretty good. She looked like she was definitely in her element and really enjoying that part of the performance, even the afternoon practice session looked good. I wonder if she came up with any new songs while doing these!Anyhow She looked MARVELOUS to me. Here's hoping her album is out soon! The two plan to do a dual acoustic tour of the East Coast, as they did in July on the west coast. "Our approach was one of an old-fashion tag team," Phillips writes on his Web site, www.grantleephilips.com. "I learn a batch of Robyn's songs and he did the same with mine. We also mustered up a few covers that included the Everly Brothers' 'All I Have To Do Is Dream.'" Look for potential surprise guests, as the West Coast tour found the duo joined at spots by Neil Finn, Wendy & Lisa, Jon Brion and SHERYL CROW. Anyway > Sheryl's Hard to Make a Stand is great just like the rest of hers are. > DaveP Hi Dave, Lou Reed is a former member of the band The Velvet Underground, who rose to prominence through Andy Warhol's patronage in the 60s. (But never sold many records before they became belatedly fashionable in the 70s. They're supposed not to have influenced bands, but to have made people found them.) Lou Reed subsequently had a checkered solo career. 'Sweet Jane' is on 'Loaded', the fourth and last album by VU. He's considered a legend in some parts. I recommend 'New York' (1989). To the guitar players: Is a riff a single guitar chord or a sequence of them? I suspect the latter. Hope this helps, Oliver. - ---------------------------------------- oliver.schick@kcl.ac.uk ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 18:58:17 -0400 From: Linda H Pinckney Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] show I haven't replyed to anything since around July (I've been a little busy) but I must say that last nights performance was stellar. It's a sequence of notes, making part/whole/whatever of a melody. Love Lou Reed! I keep forgetting that I saw him at the 11th Bridgeschool, but he played "Sweet Jane" last, and the effect on the crowd was awesome. He's definetely a stage presence. I think I hear the point that Judith got to about the similarities between "Sweet Jane" and Hard. The overall song framework has many similarities, but I don't hear too much of it in the choice of chords, but the choice of chord placements is similar. Did I completely confuse you yet? LOL... I can elaborate more later, if necessary. Good musical observations though!
