[mattlarson ] [sheryl-crew] Confusion about the voting - PLEASE READ [Naoto Hariu Subject: [sheryl-crew] How to disable your cookies (for that sexiest vote) This is what you have to do. 1. Go here first http://www.vh1.com/insidevh1/polls/sexiest.jhtml 2. Before you click anything, if you have Internet Explore 5, click the "Tools" menu then "Internet Option". 3. A form will pop up, change to the "Security" tab. 4. Click on the button "Custom Level" 5. Scroll down to where you see Cookies and disable both options. I think we owe it Sheryl, each of us, vote at least 100 times! I want to see those numbers go off the roof! Naoto __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? That was me who posted that on the forum, but I perhaps I wasn't clear or understood - its faster than that. I want to be clear you dont have to click 'next poll' after you click the Vote button and sometimes you have to press continue depending on your security setup you just have to press on Rock Female - and the voting list will repaint over the old voting list. In short skip the Next Poll and no need to close the window just click on the Female Rock category and the voting screen will refresh without have to click close every time. Is that more a clearer description? :^) KSGymnast4@aol.com wrote: > > Okay, someone on the forum said that to vote multiple times, go and vote for > Sheryl once, but when the other window comes up, then press on "next poll" > and while that's loading (do not click it off!!) go behind it and click on > "Sexiest Female Rocker" and you can vote again. Gregg, Was considering that possiblity myself. I think such a program exist (or used to under the old Windows 3.1 platform) as kind of a batch programming kind of way. But I forget what it was called since it was so long ago. But if the votes are only by IP # then we are screwed anyway. Not sure how that person found that out , but it would be nice if they could tell us how they know for sure. If we had a network scanner we could see what bytes are being sent back to vh1 so we could know for sure. Anyone know? They decided to use cookies instead, (Cookies are small files that get's writting to your computer that keeps track of information about the website you visited) I don't know about not closing and clicking on "next poll" method really works or not. If cookies are written, as soon as you come back to the page, it will know that you were there already. If you use different browers, you can vote once for IE, once for Netscape because they each write their own separate cookies. Whatever method you think is working, make sure that it is working because others are voting for Sheryl too and it might be their vote that are moving the counts. Vote for somebody else that doesn't move that much, Courtney or someone and see if you're method is actually making the difference. If you have IE, you can hit the backspace key, it's same thing is hitting the back button. You also don't have to click on the "vote" button, it's can be done by hitting the enter key. So once you get to the screen with all the names, all you have to do is click on Sheryl, , . Three buttons does one vote, repeat that over and over again. To disable cookies: 1. After you're done, make sure you put the cookie option back, you won't be able to do mail or my.yahoo.com sort of things (things that remember personal settings) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Some web sites you go to depend on the cookies file being accessible. No harm will happen or anything if you do forget - nothing is broken you would just have to re enable the cookies because some sites wont do what you want if its not accessible. ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V3 #225 *********************************
